Ehh, anyone can claim an accident is minor. I know a guy from my auto classes at school who is really good with body work. He bought a salvage title 04 Mustang for $500. It had been in a nasty T-bone accident and the frame was bent and the whole driver side needed replacing. He litterally used some bondo, bought a salvage door from a scrape yard and had the car Macco painted to look decent...managed to convince a buyer it had been in a minor 5 mph parking incident that caused an airbag deployment, hence the salvage title. He sold it for $6,000...the guy called him a week later saying his mechanic was ready to condem the vehicle. My classmate told him tough luck the car was sold as is (he made him actually sign a paper stating that) and sure enough he's off the hook. He's a shady dude I don't like him. Moral of my story is any accident is a bad accident in this day and age due to people's greed and dishonesty. Good luck with the purchase I'm not saying you should, just saying be careful I'd hate to see you're buddy get a dream car only to be disappointed.
So with that said, accidents happen all the time and can be fixed to oem spec (sometimes better).
If the body parts line up, and the tires are wearing evenly (a sign of frame damage), and the engine and other parts of the car are in good health (compression check). No rust, I would consider it.
It's a car, not a replacement heart

An accident is not an accident. There's a lot of variety there. Just take somone that know's what to look for and you'll be fine. You cant compare acar with a replaced fender to a car that has had sections of frame replaced. Even still, if done properly the car can potentially be a good buy.
