I am thinking about purchasing a 2000 S2000. I usually do not like to buy the first model year run but I found one that I like not too far with the right color combo, mileage, and price that I have been searching for. My question is what things have changed in the model year 2001-2005? I am not interested in the 2006 model year since I already read that post. I swear I read an article a while back in an auto magazine that they were dropping the redline down and such things? Maybe I am wrong. Anyways, is the 2000 model year a good choice or should I just forget the idea? Let me know ASAP I am looking to buy next weekend. Thanks in advance.

go with 02... has ALOT more small features that in the long run pay off huge..

 

The AP1 tends to consume more oil than AP2 S2000's. Easily up to 1qt per 1000 miles! Though, nothing wrong with the motor. AP1 has higher redline and performs better w/ a 4.57 gear change than a AP2 gear change. Both are great still.

get 02, and if u cant afford it yet, wait till you can

 

get an 02, probably the best MY out for the s2k considering the 9k redline, glass window and still has some of the (what some people consider) rawness of a sports car. the AP2 has a cleaner looking factory aero kit, 8500 redline i believe with a cleaner center console etc. very small differences.

 

I got the '01 and while being an awesome car, I regret it and wish I would have gotten the '02 for the TINY little differences.... Stuff like the second post on the floor the keep the floor mat steady, siver trim dash, chrome rings around the tail light, glass back window, tweeters, different head unit (i don't car about that cause I changed mine anyways), different and easier acceable horn, and there are some other small differences but you get the point.

and also, the '01 I don't think had a clock.
