Default 2000 S2000 with 95k miles.. yes? Things 2 look for

Hey all, I can get a 2000 S2000 for a pretty great price, it needs nothing, and looks like it has 40k miles.

I can get it for $9950 - good price?
New tires/brakes/clutch
New soft top with glass window

Was never F/I - and physically looks great.

What are things to look for and check mechanical wise, how many miles is this car good for? I mean I think honda and I think 165k miles is not a lot. Are these cars built well?

Just looking for some guidance, I want this car to last and it will be a DD. So it will see 11k miles a year for me.

I asked for a leakdown test and am waiting to here back. Any things to look for? or would need to be replaced soon if the previous owner didn't?

Thanks,
M

Sounds like a steal. Might not be a bad idea to get a compression test done...these cars are prone to valve train damage from mis-shift over revving.

any idea how much a leakdown/compression test runs $$?

And if that checks out, the motor is healthy i assume.

Please don't cross post. You already have a thread in under the hood.

~$10k for an 00 with close to 100k miles is about right. I'd buy it after a compression and leackdown test. It shouldn't cost much.. two hours of labor. That won't tell you with 100% certainty that the engine is healthy, but it's better than nothing. And 95k isn't a lot of miles on this engine really. I have 86k and I haven't had to do a single thing to the motor except change fluids.
