2000 S2000 with 4000 miles
#22
I once bought a Nissan P/U that was 6 years old with about 5000 miles on it. It appeared perfect, and had been garaged since new by the 70 something year old man that owned it. It took me a year of driving it to work through all the bugs it had from sitting so much. I had problems with tires, belts, hoses, and weather striping after changing all the fluids. It was a great little truck after I found and replaced most everything made of rubber.
I'd do it again and I'd likely buy a car like this one, but I would expect problems.

do a full flush...
tranny, brake, coolant, engine oil....
new tires...
and remember its an 2000...so you will run into a couple of things you may have to fix because of the many recalls...such as clutch buzzing, gear grinding, 10hp less than 2002-2003...etc
i still would take it though...take care of it well and it'd be like getting a new car

all wear items might be worn down due to just sitting..
most of the mechanicals however should be pretty good
but yeah you must change all fluids, tires..and take it real easy beginning cuz its pretty much an old, new car
and as someone else said all rubber pieces might need to be changed..hoses etc.. its all going to be worn down from just sitting or rotting

Out of curiosity, do you guys think supercar/exotic car owners face the same problems with keeping their expensive cars sitting around for a long time, or are these supercars meant to be locked up and driven scarcely? I mean, if you check used car selling websites/magazines, you can find late '80s Lamborghini Countachs with only 900 miles on them.

I just went through this with my 2002 S, which I bought with only 11k miles on it, back in the spring. I had my local dealer inspect it and the only thing they recommended was an oil change. I asked them to change the diff oil and they wouldn't...they didn't feel it necessary. I've now got just over 15k miles. I plan on new rubber for the next driving season.
Good luck with your lucky find and don't forget to post pix!
