1st oil change

Default 1st oil change

hey fellas. happy holidays to all. just a quick noob question for yall. my car is 4 mos old with 2800 miles on the dial. i think honda recommends first oil change around 3750 to let the moli or whatever its called set in. should i change my oil soon or should i wait for the 3750. thanks for the help.

I changed mine at 3k.

I don't feel it really makes a difference. These engines are just about bulletproof.

I would consider the miles/ hours the engine has run and decide from there. If your mileage is all local- go ahead, if all highway- wait.

No reason to change it before 3000 mi IMO.

I'd probably let it go to 3000-3750 mi.

i just changed mine 3 weeks ago at 4200 miles...but i waited 8 months.

When in doubt, go with factory recommendations.

I'm pretty sure the recommended period for the first oil change is over 4k. Anyway, the reason is b/c the first oil that's in your car is a break in fluid that has high moly content and other things to streangthen your working bits and make sure everything seats right. I would go with the recommended interval in your manual and just stick to that.

recommended interval is like 6-7k I believe for first oil change to let that fluid really bind right ...

I always believe the manufacturer to be right, but should you really go 7000 miles till your first oil change?

changed mine at 5,000 miles and that was when the car was about 10 mos old... the oil did not look bad-
then changed again a little over 9 mos later when the car had 10k miles on it and went to synthetic then.
