Default 1st gear hold back

does anyone else think that 1st gear is very tight and doesn't let you accelerate well? any solutions? after 4.56 gears, it's much looser, but still cannot acclerate well like with 2nd.

I think it takes off like a fighter jet in first gear VTEC. Maybe you're just used to big american muscles.... I mean muscle cars....

1st pulls pretty hard for the short time from 6-9, which is very, very short if you launch it. Oh wait, maybe that 8K limit is the problem? j/k

I think you're a bad driver if you're asking a question like this honestly.

Now that I think about it, if I start out slowly in first at around 1,500 RPM, then it takes a good while for the engine to speed up. Sometimes I feel like i'm driving around in a civic >_< but then once VTEC kicks in all worries are erased form my mind ^_^

i've only had my car a few days, but feel the same way. 1st is anemic while the rest of the gears are ripping.

after reading a bit, i think the key to first gear is to drop it revved and let the tires smoke. don't think i want to do that too much (but maybe i do - tires and clutches can be replaced)
