1st and 2nd gear problem??
Before I changed to RedLine MT fluid, it was fine, after changed to new transmission oil, it is very hard to put it 1st gear in local traffic. 2nd gear is better is but hard. 3rd gear little grind, thats why I changed RedLine, it is little better but still I can feel.
what is the problem? Do I need to put more fluid?
I put 1.7 Qt, is this correct?

Hi,
I hope that you don't have the problem that I've just had. At just over 17,000 miles, it was often impossible to avoid grinding going from 1st to 2nd. When they opened everything up at my dealership, they found that that synchronizer had to be replaced, and also the one going from 3rd to 4th. The dealership backed me up that there had been no abuse of the car. The clutch was not worn enough to seriously need replacement parts, but since it was opened up and had wear too, I told them to go ahead with that as well. American Honda agreed to pay for only the synchronizer from 1st to 2nd, though my dealership and the customer service rep. in California all felt that Honda should have done more.
American Honda has two Service Bulletins out on the S2000, numbers 00-054 and 00-055. They came out in September and December of 2000. (I bought my car in late August 1999.) The critical Service Bulletin seems to me to be 00-055, which deals with replacing the countershaft 1st gear set and the countershaft 2nd gear set. It seems to me that defects in those parts could easily lead to transmission trouble beyond just 1st and 2nd gear, so I believe the decision was irresponsible. I said so, and copied my statement to the president of American Honda, for whatever that was worth.
Owner Austblue from New South Wales, Australia, posted links to these Service Bulletins, if they'll help you. Best of luck. Pete B.
