Default 1st 10K Miles in a 2007

My 07 S2K is my 1st Honda sport car and has been the best drop-top car Ive had: much more reliable than my C-5 Corvette and 355 Ferrari.

Wish it had adjustable steering and a 7th gear. Still not used to cruising at 4K Rpm for 3 hours straight every weekend heading back home.

Hopefully wont have to have a Valve adjustment until 100K?

The manual for my '05 says inspect valve clearances every 105k miles, or only if noisy. Probably that was'nt the case with your Ferrari!

There are a lot of '06+ cars that have had tight valves after just 25k miles. I would rather adjust them than running the risk of burning a valve.

Honda just adjusted the valves on my '01. It was $237 with parts (new gaskets) and labor. It's an inexpensive job.

Edit: BTW, I'm quoting Billman250 on 06+ cars having an increased instance of tight valves. I don't have any first hand experience.

Do the valve adjustment regardless of how many miles you have. It's better to be safe now than sorry.

Welcome! quite a stable you had. but im glad to hear such high praises from an owner who owns/owned exotics. There are some things you should research as preventative measure. as valve adjustments go i would do a valve adjustment once a season, if you work on the car yourself. but here is a good read and will help you make a decision on how often you should get it done.

and there is a DIY for almost every TSB and procedure there is for this car.

Here are the things to look for and address.

happy motoring and enjoy it.

Welcome!

The valves are easy on this car. I went 77k on my 04 without them being much out of spec.

Here is the post from Billman regarding 06-09 valve issues: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/106...ners-dbw-cars/ I'm definitely getting mine done this spring (just got the car and it has 38k miles.)

Do them yourself, it's really not that hard. Really easy on this motor setup.

I think the S2000 is best with six gears, though I have never driven anything with seven. A taller gear on a stock s2000 wouldn't work too well as there isn't much torque to work with, at least in my AP1. However, I do wish the steering wheel was adjustable as well (for other people), though it seems to be a good fit for me in its natural position.

Not sure about the valve adjustment, I've got an 01' and haven't yet needed one.

I used to think the SI I had needed a 7th gear as well. In reality, these cars are so high revving and produce such little torque down low that a 7th gear would be largely worthless, and would actually impede fuel economy because people would be throwing it in 7th at 45 mph and lugging the engine terribly - Honda geared them very well from the factory.
