I never cared for the tall sidewall with the AP1 wheels, purely personal preference for me.

Narrow and limited tire options, larger sidewall means more sidewall deflection/movement making for less precise handling which is a shining feature of this car, and that puts even more limitation on tire choice since it takes an extremely stiff sidewall to compensate (which the factory S02 did) so 17's is just the natural choice. There are 17" options that are lighter then the factory 16's as well if that is the main motivation. Aesthetically to each their own, but 16's really date the Ap1. Much improved visual appeal with 17".

Upgraded 2 months ago from AP1 to AP2V1 rims. I notice the sidewall is noticeably stiffer in the turns.

I like the look of an all stock ap1. My 16s are 10/10 shape and look decent.

As for handling, grip etc... its barely noticeable. At least stock anyways. Both sets of tires I have are 300treadwear.

Those are AP2V1 rims. AP2V2s are flat-spokes, not ridged spokes.

Thank you all for your input ❤️✨ I did see the old thread but I felt like it needed more. Maybe I was wrong. I do agree that some 16s look nice. Maybe I’ll go with an 18.

18’s really only make sense if you want to run a tire wider than 255. If not you are just paying more for tires. Though if you like the bigger wheel look then go for it.

Yep, and the package generally weighs more. Plan on spending average about $100 per tire more then the equivalent size in 17's.

I have an ap1. I have the OEM wheels, the BBS JDM wheels, a set of ap2v3 wheels and a set of CE28N 17" s2k spec wheels. Lately I have been running the CE28n wheels. But, I also like the BBS JDM wheels. Very light. The CE28ns are light too.

I should sell some wheels.
