15,000 miles service
i just had this done by an independent shop, changed rear end fluid with some purple stuff, stock gearbox fluid, topped off all fluids, checked it all, cleaned brakes, new air filter, new cabin filter(filthy),oil and a new filter(stix brand?), perhaps something else, 6 mm on rear bakes and 5mm on front (whatever that means in terms of % left???).
car is quieter, smoother, and seems to go just a little better (oil was as usual very very very black with about 3,000 miles on it).
Cost about $300 which adds to my total expences on this car in 15,000 miles and 1.5 years of $400.00 grand total(i have changed my own oil a few times and once at the dealer).
stock tires are fine, rear have maybe 5,000 plus left, fronts look ever better. I have never had the car aligned. my car has never been into the dealer for any warranty work or any type...refreshing even for a honda!
I am happy with my purchase...your experience at 15,000 miles???

Tires are looking good too, but I noticed recently my fronts have started to wear down rather fast lately.

I'm curious about the oil being black. Mine is very pale brown, almost yellow and still transparent, after 3,000 miles. Perhaps you VTEC a lot? I don't do it that often any more. My car has 16,000 miles.

oh...i should note the times i changed the oil it was very very very black, but the oil on the dipstick was a brown color, very normal looking. so i have to conclude the oil on the dipstick looks ok while the oil in the car is needing replacement. i check the oil every fill up, which is about 220 miles or so and so far have experienced NO oil use, NONE, NADA, not even under breakin...and i did not cheat, went the entire 600 miles with NO vtec and changed the first time at 3700 miles.this is one well built engine.

You guys need to start doing these services yourself rather than paying $200 or more for such a simple thing to do.
You can easily do it yourself with a jack, jack stands, ratchet, 17mm and 23mm sockets and a 24mm wrench. Look in "Under the Hood" and print out the DIY instructions. Buy the parts through www.hardtopguy.com or someone else, and you'll be golden and save yourself a ton of money and learn more about your car.

good advice...and i have done an oil change and trans oil before many times...i just am getting older and have less time and can write the service off..filter changes are also in my field of experience...again see above...i know...i recommend servicing your own car for the experience not to mention the cost...i have less time to do this sort of thing now as well...this is by far the easiest car i have ever had for an oil change, i use rino ramps.
mods i have done include disconnection of the ding ding noise when the key is in the ignition and the door is open and the lucid rear speaker kit.
the purpose of this thread it discussing the experience of the 15,000 mile service i have had and others have had...and how their cars are doing, not of major interest to all..i admit.
