15,000 mile check up
Btw my car is-
2005
14,340 miles
My question-
So I recall hearing i should get my valves adjusted at 10k miles from this website. The dealership told me absolutely not, don't do it till 105,000 miles. What do you people think?
My rant-
So they gave me a sheet of what they did. Oil change wasn't listed, Changing the rear diff fluid wasn't listed. What do they do? They are charging me 175.00 For looking at things? Shit i can look at a cv boot and see if its broken or not. I'm ripping them a new asshole when i pick the car up. Wish i read the sheet when I was there. They are the biggest honda dealer in the area, time to find somewhere else to go. I want them to do work, not get paid to look at bullshit.

105k or 4 years is the recommended time for valve inspection. Adjust as required.
It doesn't hurt anything to check them early, I do. But, don't expect your dealer to do it unless you ask them.
The service you just had (or should have had) is supposed to include:
* Replace engine oil and filter.
* Use only Genuine Honda motor oil.
* Inspect front and rear brakes.
* Rotate tires**, inspect for wear and adjust pressure.
* Lubricate all hinges, locks, and latches with multipurpose grease.
* Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
* Inspect suspension components.
* Inspect driveshaft boots.

** Rotating the tires on the S2000 would be a silly mistake, since they're both Staggered and Radial. Those two *s must be this note.

The recommended valve adjustment service is at 105k (or if they are noisy: very subjective). Earlier than that it is just not necessary.
If you are a fine-tuning enthusiast, who likes to do things like special/synthetic engine oil, custom alignment, special spark plugs etc... then you should seriously consider it; otherwise, probably not.
For the fine-tuning enthusiast, note that everyone I've ever read about who has done it early (anywhere from 1k miles to 60k miles) has noticed an immediate improvment as increased throttle response or crispness, and, reduced engine vibration. I did it at 4k miles and felt it too, a real seat of the pants difference!
Right from the factory, each valve will certainly be found within spec, but that is a range, and the factory settings are not all that precise, so the different valves all vary within the range. What a fine-tuning enthusaist does is set them all much closer to exactly the same (all intake close to the same that is, and all exhaust close to the same). And, my opinion is why wait to 105k to have precision tuned valves?
It is up to you though. It is a good, cheap, safe point of fine tuning for an enthusiast, but is in no way necessary.

I always order everything ala cart from the dealer, and never pay for the BS checks.
At 30K, I got:
oil and filter change (to syn).
differential chage (to syn).
brake system flushed, brakes cleaned and adjusted, oem fluids.
tranny flush and fill with the new oem honda fluid. (incredible improvement!)
clutch fluid replaced.
even with me buying all the syn fluids, the grand total came to about $220. Not bad IMO, especially considering what they charged you $175 for. Mine is certified so i'd rather have a dealer record of drivetrain maintenance until the warrantly is out.
Like most others have said, you can easily do some checks yourself and save nearly $100/hr in labor costs. they tell you the labor rate is based on 2 hours, but if you watch them, it easily takes them about 45 minutes to do it. I never understood how this isn't some sort of fraud. Besides, i'm convinced the tech is looking for stuff to fix everytime your in there for fluids anyway.
Consider it a lesson learned
