130-150 Mph
#12
I've been to an indicated 153mph. From what I have noticed, after 130mph, it tends to struggle with it's aerodynamics like mentioned earlier. It feels quite stable at those high speeds. However, it gets very noisy with the wind noises. There is also a significant difference with the top down compared to top up. I've been able to hit 153 with the top up, but with the top down, there is a significant amout of drag that hinders it's capability above 135.
This is from my personal experiences. Just be careful when approaching those speeds and not to endanger other motorists. I've done these speeds on open roads without traffic not to mention by myself. If I had a passenger or there were other cars on the road, I wouldn't have taken those risks. Happy Driving!

Don't know about all the previous post.
I can tell you that compared to my 1999 crown vic and my truck. this car is NOT very stable above 110 mph. Given the car is so light relatively speaking any inconsistencies in the roadway or gust of wind above 110 she is squirly top up or down!
I have found that 18" wheels with much wider tires, stiffer sway bars, and a good wing help at the higher speeds. A front lip, splitter and or canards upfront will help too.
My car is more stable at 145mph but a down force is needed to augment its weight.

I agree with GSP. I've driven other cars, even non-"sport cars" that felt more stable at high speeds than the S. I think it's due to the low curb weight. Heck, my lowly Prelude felt more stable at 100+ even if it did not have the muscle of the S.

Well not that I plan on being in the 130+ range much but 100-110 I would most certainly hit (once I buy the car). Hell, i've hit 124 in my Saturn, that was really scarry, but I was really pissed, I got off the accellerator and got on the brakes and the car was fine, I should hope that the S could do the same.
I've been in a C5 at 160 and a ZR1 at 171 and the car was stable as a rock!
Thanks for the info and feed back.

i've only taken her up to 111 with the top up. everythign seemed pretty stable. alot better than my previous 97 civic that i took to 115... or a previous 90' prelude that i took to 118.

Ive had about 148 with the top down, and it felt great, but then again, i do have the factory rear spoiler, which makes a difference. I have driven an S without the spoiler and by about 80 MPH it was definitely a noticeable difference, being not as stable, but still very comfortable!

ive driven up to 80 on an S and it felt fine. Its dissapointing to hear its rather unstable at 120+. I hit almost 130 every lap at pacific raceways in my 95 mustang and take turn one at full throttle at that speed. ITs almost at the limit but is very stable, and i only have a pro kit and bilstiens on it with 265/35/18s. I was contemplating buying an S soon from a friends father for 14k that he found at an auction with minor front end damage that he fixed. But now im think otherwise maybe, cause i would be tracking it and dont wont it to feel unstable at 130mph going through turn one, then hard braking down to 65-70 for turn 2
