100 octane
Are there any advantages or disadvantages (other than price) to running 100 octane. I'm pretty sure the step up in octane goes from 93/94 to 100 then 110 then on up to I believe 116.
I figure the relatively high compression of our motors may be capable of benefiting from the 100. 110 would be overkill.
Would it make any sense to do a 93 and 100 mixture?
last thing...are there any disadvantages?

i would personally run what the mfg recomends..
they engine is made per their specs..
if you change the cam or heads.. then.. yea.. maybe..
or dragracing.. ?
then
spend the coin..
otherwise..
what they recomend.

the S2000 only needs premium at minimum. that said, you CAN actually gain a few horsies by putting in 100 octane gas (be sure it is NOT leaded!).
the reason being is our knock sensors are sensitive almost to the point of paranoia. even a stock S2000 on a normal tempurature day with 93 octane gas will have some timing pulled by the ECU due to the jittery nature of the knock sensors. there have been dyno comparisons done showing a small increase in power when using high octane fuel.

hmmm...I'm wondering now if the Sunoco pump 100 at Beaverun is leaded or unleaded. That's something I'll find out before doing it for sure.
I'm going to run some 100 since it's not going to hurt the car and may help performance.
sounds like the ECU will be the only issue...will this change be something that it will adjust to?

The ECU will take it's time adjusting to the 100 octane so I suggest you reset your ECU shortly after adding the fuel. I dynoed 238hp on a freshly reset ECU with 100 octane after a baseline of 222hp on 91 octane.
