1-2 synchro issues?
Hi Guys,
Reffering to a reply in apost by JDR159, he mentions:
"Weak 1-2 synchro (2000-2001 models only?!)."
Is this true? Is there any fix for this? How much? I notice that about 30% of my shifts from 1 to 2 end up in some type of grind or another..... i thought it was just a worn out clutch, but i guess not?
Any input?
Shawn

it's kind of a "live with it" detail of the S2k. some seem to have it happen more often than others, which leads me to believe that there is some driver factor to this as well, IMO.
I do get the 1-2 grind occasionally, but RARELY. like... let's say once every 2-3 months if that.
you should only worry if it starts getting worse and/or you notice your shifter is starting to not go into gear easily.
there's not a fix and it's a common problem. a quick search for "gear grind" would probably find you a lot of info.

For me the 1-2 crunch is mainly a cold issue. Once the transmission is fully warmed up, it pretty much goes away. This was also something that was worse when the car was new. At 13k+ miles, it's "way" better than it was when I first took delivery.
