From what I hear, the STI handles VERY CLOSELY to the S2000 and brakes better.
Is this true?
I do like to stoplight race(only in very safe places)and the STI would beat
ALOT more cars than the S2000.
I would say that the STi does not handle as well as the S2k in term of sportyness.

It is probably just as fast or faster on regular windy roads, but does not give the adrenaline kick as the S2k.
The S2k gives me a grin on my face everytime I fire it up and takes it for a spin.

Redlight races: Not many cars beat the STi there..

Braking: Under braking, the S2k feels lighter and more agile, but I dont think the braking performance is very different.

Take them both for a long drive, then decide. The Impreza will astonish you with its torque, but it demands some revs as well to give it's best. The Eurospec with its 2 liter unit, wil need about 4k before it pulls hard. I have never tested the US spec. I guess it is a 2.5 liter unit over there?

On the other hand, you will laugh your head off when revving the Honda hard on some windy roads, and you will feel that you are much more a part of the car than with the 'safe' beefy Impreza.

My two cents from the cold Norway.

You need to drive them...seriously. That's the only way you can be sure of what you like. They are two TOTALLY different automobiles. Test drive, test drive, test drive.

Yeah, you absolutely need to drive them. I would have never even considered the S2k until I drove one.

Bikecrasher... Check out this link in regards to the STi's track ability.. http://www.imprezawrxsti.com/postnuke/inde...ewtopic&t=19534

A set of sway bars makes a huge difference in the STi.

I am about 6 foot. I love my S. But if I were to do it over I would buy a STi. They were not out when I bought my car. My bud has a STi that is faster than hell, It hangs right with Zo6's with like $3000.00 bucks in mods. I have about $10,000.00 in mods and just got 300 WHP.

I am 39, married with 7 & 4 year old daughters.
I have an every day car.
I am looking for a:

1. Quality automobile.
2. It has to accelerate like a S.O.B.
3. It has to handle like a Go-cart.
4. Nice looking.

I need honest opinions of you guys.

This is the way I see it so far:

1. Both are quality autos.(Maybe the honda is a little better?)
2.The STI has alot more thrust. 300 hp/300 tq.
3.Which car handles better? I dont know. Inform me!
4.I think the S2000 has the edge in looks, but the STI does look very aggressive
and has four doors and a trunk.

I realize that the s is a convertible, which is a plus, but I am 6' tall and my wife
says I would look funny in the s2000 because of my size.

Right now, I am "leaning slightly" towards the STI because of the extra room and
the Extra thrust(which is alot!)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys
I own a '02 S2000 and a friend has a '04 STi. I'd have to agree with Bikecrasher's assessment for the most part...

For me, the criteria breaks down like this:

-----
1. Quality automobile.
-----
Both are quality cars. The S2000's fit and finish seems a little better, but both are mechanically sound. My S2000 has 73k miles and hasn't had any major problems yet. We beat the living crap out of my friend's STi and it's also doing just fine.

-----
2. It has to accelerate like a S.O.B.
-----
The STi wins here, hands down, at least in terms of street driving. In the STi, you stomp on the gas and get decent power right away, regardless of what RPM you're at. In the S2000, you need to keep it in VTEC to get power, and even then, it doesn't pull as hard as the STi.

-----
3. It has to handle like a Go-cart.
-----
I'd say both are pretty close when it comes to handling. The S2000 feels more nimble, and the STi feels bigger and heavier - but easier to control - through corners. But I don't know which one actually handles better in reality; since the STi belongs to a friend, I've never wanted to risk losing it in a corner. The S2000 definitely *feels* more like a go-kart.

-----
4. Nice looking.
-----
The S2000 looks better IMO. But of course that's all subjective, and the STi is ugly in an endearing way if you ask me.

When all's said and done, I'd say the STi is faster under most circumstances, but I do find the S2000 more entertaining to drive. The S2000 feels more like a sports car, whereas the STi feels more like a typical passenger car (it even feels like a much bigger car than the Evo). If you just need a weekend toy, then you can't go wrong with the S2000. If you need practicality, or want something that can compete against other cars in stoplight-to-stoplight races, then the STi is a better choice.

Good luck!
