04 s2k launch?

no one can give you an answer. i can tell you it will likely never be below 4000rpm.
my launch range has varied from as low as 4000 and as high as 6500.
someone who knows how to launch this car properly will tell you that the launch rpm will depend completely upon traction conditions. there is no one "perfect/right/correct" rpm to launch. though again, anything below 4000 you will likely bog and that's very bad for your drivetrain.
a few secrets for you:
-NEVER slip the clutch. and be wary about launching the 04+ because the clutch delay "babysitter" can cause the clutch to slip. that said, you ALWAYS want to dump the clutch, or pop the clutch as quicky as possible.
-if you think you are spinning the wheels too much, you probably aren't. your perception the moment of launch as to how much wheelspin you're getting is usually "skewed". however, if you bounce off the rev limiter while launching, then you are definitely spinning too much.
-drop your rear tires to about 24psi and raise the fronts to about 44.
-after enough practice, you'll start to know whether or not you are spinning too much, and you'll be able to feather the gas to adjust.
-i've found that pushing your butt and back all the way back against the seat helps get some feedback as to how you are doing on the launch. you'll feel it if you nail the launch, because it will literally feel like someone "pushed" you suddenly. this, also, will take time to learn what it feels like.

there are MANY threads about it in UTH
either remove the delay valve from the slave cylinder, or replace your slave cylinder with an 03 version.
Ill do a search and post the link if someone doesnt beat me to it!

I just removed the delay valve from my 04. I like it alot better now. With my 02, dropping the clutch at 6.5 seemed perfect for a drag race. I'm just curious on what the sweet spot would be for my new 04? 5.5? 6? 6.5?
anyone?
Thanks for all your info S2000GT. How was the meet last night? I really want to stop by.
Great guy, great car!! ------> S2000GT

I would imagine around the same as the AP1's...maybe a bit lower because of the additional torque in the mid range. Look at the torque curve for the AP1 (find torque figure at say 6500. Then look at the torque curve for the AP2, find roughly the number as the 6500 on the AP1 and try it there. You may need a bit more, because the AP2 has wider tires and more grip. I would imagine 6000-6500.
