04 s2000, paint calipers red or silver?
#23
I painted my calipers red on my red 01 Miata that I just traded in on my 04 s2k. As soon as it gets warm I am going to paint the one on my 04 red also. The car is red too. But I am very impressed with the decals...what a nice touch. So where can I buy them so I can put them on mine?
Thanks

I spent $9 on a can of brake caliper paint and $.50 on a small paint brush and painted them myself. They do chip every few months, and I spend about 30 minutes touching them up. In fact, I have to do them this afternoon. I can't imagine spending $700 for the same thing! OMG! You guys need to give me some of that extra money you have laying around. I have student loans to pay back.

I thought that the self painted calipers didn't hold up as well than the ovenbaked calipers, or do I just fall for Rick's sales pitch??? Probably the latter, but they do look damn good though. The way I look at it, I got more than I get when I go to Vegas!!!!

I have had my G2 painted calipers for about 15k miles. I'm happy as a clam and there is no wear or durability problem I can see. The car gets washed more than me so it gets plenty of abuse all around.
The one thing it hasn't seen yet is a "track day" to get super hot. The G2 system is rated to 900 deg. I do however enjoy miles of "spirited" driving.
If anyone is looking for a comparison between the G2 and Legend system, I would give the thumbup to G2. I have used both now and the G2 system levels and layers nicer. Also has a shorter time in-between coats making 3 coats less time consuming. Both paints offered great results, but if I ever do it again it will be with G2.
