There is no consensus of opinion as you must have figured out by now. I have an '01 Silverstone and an '05 Suzuka. When I first got my '05 I missed the feel of my '01 and was disappointed but now that I'm used to how the '05 is, I like the feel of it better.

I have owned a MY02 an now have a MY04. Both cars are great! I would have no problem owning or recommending either car. The differences are so slight and IMO are just subjective preference. That said, would I trade my 04 for an 02 or 03...I doubt it.

BTW...Don't let anyone try and tell the MY04 and 05 are softer. I hit all the same bumps on my way into work and it rides just as rough as my MY02 did.

My Motto...Any S2K is better than no S2K

I've owned both and I totally agree with this statement. Anyone who says the 04+ is 'softer' or somehow designed to appeal to "North American" drivers is

If you read the information produced by Honda that explains each change, they were trying to improve 'at the limit' handling.

any year S2000 is amazing, simply one of the best handling cars I have ever driven.

I did not have any chance to be in pre 04, I thought that my 04 S is rough riding because of defectived rear shocks, because it was softened significantly.

Are you saying your ride softened? OK. Just to let you know, when the cars are shipped there are some spacers or something placed in the shocks. (I've never seen them so I'm just repeating what I've heard.) Dealerships have been known to mess up on delivery prep and not take these out, giving the car a stiff ride. At Fall Colors, in October 2004, a very loved owner, Grannyrod, had her car prepped to do the track on Sunday, and the guys found that the spacers had NEVER been removed! I believe she had the car for over a year at this point. She was very excited with the new ride.

Kyras,

It was not what I mean. What I mean is this: A long time ago, a year or so, someone said that the rear suspension of the 04 was soften significantly compares with pre 04, so I expect my S would ride softly on bumpy roads, but it was not and I thought that either I had a deffective rear suspension or I still had the spring spacers, I did not find any spacer on all 4 springs. I still wondering about soft ride of the 04 models, If everybody saying that the 04 rear is much softer than '00-'03, then why my S is so rough on bumpy roads.

Until today, I saw two '04-'05 owners confirmed the rough ride of either pre or post 04 models. So my S ride is normal, no deffective.

I am sorry for confusion.

No problem, fellow So Cal. owner. The only difference I notice between the '01 and the '05 is that I don't feel the cracks in the pavement so much in the newer one. That's the only softness I notice, not like that makes it a soft ride.
