Default '01 window dry rot?

I have a '01 with the vinyl rear window. I was cleaning it the other day and started to notice that the edges around the window on the top side (kinda under the covering flap) are starting to rub off almost like dry rotting. Anyone know if this is normal or what I can do to stop it? There seems to be no leaks or gaps and the same surface that is exposed on the outside near the bottom of the rear window is ok--not rotting.

Anyone have experiance with this?

Thanks,
Joel

Yes, I've noticed this on mine, too. I'm not too concerned about it. I think it's just the plastic "breathing and curing" over time and it shows on the edges because this is a hard place to make contact when cleaning.
I just polish the whole window with a plastic polish like Maguiar's, then do a treatment of Plexus to seal it in. CAUTION! Plexus will cause the black parts of the soft top to stain with a white residue, so spray the Plexus on a cloth and wipe it on carefully. In time, the white will wear off but you can avoid it in the first place.
Also, if you do the static cling window tint on the outside, this will protect it further and keep it looking like new indefinately.
