Default '01 sold for $28,995. WTF?

The local Honda dealership here just sold a pre-owned '01 S2000 with 12K + on the odo and the listed price was $28,995. They didn't have it long I know that.
I hope the new owner finds his way to s2ki.com (and this thread) so he can PM me and write, "I paid no where near that."
Yikes! Summer must be here already. That seems much too high, yes?

It depends on the state you live in .... In NY I searched 250-300 miles including NYC & upstate. In any color the best I found was blk s2k '01 17k miles for 23k (Long Island) and slv. '00 20k miles for 24 1/2. I have a blk prelude so I opted to get slv.

The only reason I got the '00 for 24.5 marked down from 28k is the weather has been horrible in NY (snowed 2 weeks ago).

Most people wanted $26-31 even the private parties. I also found yr. didnt mean much just mileage (great car any yr.).

Not high for the Northeast. Look through www.cars.com www.autobytel.com & several other searches for your area (zip code). Call dealerships ... you will get 28k for summer as you said.

asking price doesn't equal selling price.

The weather here definitely makes a difference! When a dealer has had a car sitting on their lot for too long they want to move it. Not all dealers can afford to leave inventory sitting around, so the price comes down to try and move the product, i.e. not a lot of buyers are interested in a nice convertible when it is snowing like hell outside, with no end in sight.

I bought my S in October/November, and I was more than $1,300 below MSRP.

The more sunny days with temperatures between 60-95 degrees/day in the city you live in the more the car is worth.
Someone in NY is not going to pay the same for the exact same car if they can drive the car with the top down 75 times a year opposed to the fact they can do it 300+ days a year here in Arizona.

A dealer here (not exactly an import convertible hotspot) wants $26k for a low VIN '01 with 13000 miles... not worth it!

Although if anyone wants a high VIN '01 with 30k on it, and is willing to part with that kind of cash... PM me
