Default 01 S2000 or 02 S2000?

I put a deposit on a 01 S2000, but it's not here yet. The dealer said they can get it in a couple of weeks. Should I just wait until 02 model comes out. By then, I'm afraid that I won't be able to enjoy the convertible as much. I'm in the DC area.

If it was me I'd wait to see what the updates to the 02 will be. If I was in the DC area I'm not sure. Where I live I drive the car top down in the fall/winter/spring and pretty much park it in the heat of the summer.

Gee, I was a lot of help.

Well I was all set to get an '01 (we were just haggling on price - oh the joys of shopping in the bay area) and then I read in Automobile magazine that the '02 is going to have a glass rear windscreen. Having seen the state of the plastic screens after a year or two, this was enough to make me wait for an '02. It is also supposed to get a "More refined shifting action" whatever that means.

As for waiting for autumn to get the car, that is obviously more of a deal in DC than in San Francisco. However, I used to have a convertible when I was back in the UK and I used to really enjoy driving with the top down in winter. If there was any sign of the sun I'd put on a nice warm coat, gloves and hat, turn the heater up full and enjoy all that fresh air!

Driving a convertible doesn't just have to be about getting a sun tan - but then maybe I'm just twisted from growing up in rainy Britain

Gotta love the Bay Area, but DAMN we pay more for everything including S2000's. I almost laughed out loud when some dealers still wanted 40K for a stook!

a few months ago i was contemplating the same thing, only reason i bought the s2k when i did (may '01) was cause i didn't wanna break in a convertible in the winter... but then again, i also didn't know that the '02's are gonna have a glass rear window

if it's only a 2 month wait, why not just wait for the '02's to come out? you get a higher resale value as well as the added goodies, seems more worth it to me

Iceman, ParanoidAndroid: what did you end up paying in the end if you don't mind me asking? It's always handy to have a bit more ammo to beat the local car dealers with.

I'm originally from Brighton by the way.

Hey all,
As some of you may know, Ive been going through heck trying to find one of the few remaining Spa Yellow Stooks in Canada. I failed. Instead, I have put my $$ down on an 02 Suzuka Blue, which my dealer estimates will be here by mid September. Can anyone attest to this?
Also, does anyone know if the prices on the 2002 will be going up?

I originally used Priceline.com and they tracked down a S2000 for me at MSRP, unfortunately, it was the wrong color. I ended up paying about $900 over MSRP at Andersons in Palo Alto.

Just picked it up last week and I still cant get this stupid smile off my face.
