I went to my dealer and they are researching whether they will replace it under warranty or not. Mine is about to roll over 36K.
Good luck. They didn't even question the replacement on mine at all. Originally I was worried that they might turn down the warranty replacement, but they where great about it.

Hot Damn! Word for word that's exactly what had happened when my window had cracked. MAN was I pissed. You told it as if you were there with me. BUT!!! It was about 72 degrees outside (Portland, OR 4/1/06). Bottom line is...when I had risen the top back up I saw what the "V" shape crack that you had described was due to how it had folded when it went down in the first place; it had folded with a kink in it. So as for me, I can rule out temperature as a factor. Mine is also a '02. The good thing about it is that it is replaceable, unlike the glass windows. The bad part is that its going to be around $250+/-. Yeah insurance is an option, but coincidently, I had recently gotten the window of my Range Rover ($855 w/$250 deduct.) replaced two weeks ago that I made a claim on. Could I have done anything different? No. It's just nice to know that I'm not the only one that this has happen to. Thanks for the post! It's more comforting to hear that it wasn't something I did.

First off, nice old thread.

Second, there is something wrong if you have an '02 and it has a plastic rear window. We all know '02s have glass.

Third, yes you could have done something different (presuming you have a plastic window). When you see the top start to fold you will notice if it is folding correctly or if that v-crease is forming. Simply stop retracting the top about half way down, get out of the car and press down on the window....forcing it to fold as it should.

Good luck with the replacement. You might consider a Muz mat for the rear tray to help protect the new window.

Good luck,
Hockey
