Default 0-60... what is realistic?

which 0-60 time for the s2000 is realistic?

6.4 sec Sport Compact Car
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/roadtest...2000/index.html

5.4 sec Car and Driver
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?se...4&page_number=2

5.4 sec Road and Track
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...9&page_number=6
(no time listed there, but i have the mag)

5.5 sec Edmunds
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=100600

now i realize (from reading the wisdom littered on s2ki.com) that it takes a high RPM dump to get a good time.... but how often can you do that? Sport Compact Car only got a 6.4, and they said their clutch went out after 10 tries. 10 tries and ONLY 6.4 sec?. are the guys at Sport Compact Car that bad of drivers, or is everyone else being optimistic?

ok. now i'm no drag racer, so please no lectures about how the s2000 is better then just a 0-60 time. i know. that's why i'm considering it. but if the 0-60 time is more realistically around 7 sec, that's sporty, but no sports car. and it's a little hard to swallow when an STI and EVO can do 5 sec. times all day(well the sube at least) for the same price and any dude in an SUV can cream it off the line.

so....
Does the clutch really "go out" after 10 good 0-60 runs?
How fast is the S2k on average 0-60?

thanks all.

The s2k is not a drag car, do not buy it if that is what you want to do, that said , it is the most exciting car I have ever driven (not the fastest), and the 0-60 although meaningless is faster than 7 seconds, thats ridiculous, but it will not hang with a STI or an EVO without mods, my 2 cents
Edit there is a thread right below this one that discusses STI vs S2K

I'd say 5.2.-5.4... but you'd never pull that off

I had pulled a 5.3 in my Gtech on my first S2000. this was also ona 13.8 run at the 1/4 mile. (which by the way, the Gtech was properly calibrated, and was always within .06 seconds of the 1/4 mile track's times) Yes I was stock.

Without practice, patience, and skill, you would be hard-pressed to click off a sub-6 second time. With that said, it is still 2x more exciting than my SLK that can make 0-60 passes in 4.5 or under all day long.

P.S. If you want to get the feel for the power the car has without damaging the driveline, just slip it into 1st at 20mph and let her rip

thanks for the input guys.

however, nobody has answer my questions yet.

Does the clutch really "go out" after 10 good 0-60 runs?

(not the BEST 0-60; the AVERAGE)

I never had to replace my clutch even after 3 years and 60,000 very hard miles.

Average 0-60 would probably be in the realm of 6 flat.

Actually...the best 0-60 I have seen is 5.2 . It is from RT and was published in 2000. You can find it online also.

You are correct. More like the "published best" throwing out the outliers that haven't been reproduced.

In about 15 reviews, that 5.2 was the lowest time I've ever seen.
I've never seen a 5.3 or even many 5.4s.
But lots of 5.5-6.2s.

x---xxxxxxxx-x
5---55---------6
.----..----------.
2---56---------5

Kind of like that.
