Hi everybody,
As we enter the race season, I'd like to request that we not put CART or F1 race results in the message title. It was a practice in the old Compuserve Forums (that should give you an idea how long I've been doing this) to place [brackets] in the message title to indicate there was information you might NOT want to see if you taped the race for later viewing.
We've got an autocross this sunday and I'll be taping the CART race. I often check in for messages and would hate to see the results by mistake. I hope eveyone thinks this is a good idea

OOOOH I hate that!
I remember a few years back I was listening to AM news radio, which typically does NOT say ANYTHING about F1, but wouldn't you know it, they managed to sneak in something like "In Formula One, driver Micheal Schumacher is taken off the track at the first turn of today's race". NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I cursed all the way home. Another time I was checking my phone messages and one of my good friends, who has since learned his lesson, gave away the results before I could throw the phone on the ground! D'OOOH!!! So what I do now is a complete information blackout from the time the race occurs to when I get home to watch my tape.
Brackets are a great tool. Let's use 'em!

How about when you are watching qualifying and across the bottom of the scrollbar, you see "Alex Zanardi captures pole for Cleveland GP"...
Or, during a tape delayed race (it can happen on the west coast with CART sometimes) and you see the winner announced at the bottom of the screen...
its like, Thanks a LOT!

Yeah, ESPN is great about giving away race results on that little sports update ticker. I used to put up a wall of VHS tapes in front of the TV just to cover up that stupid ticker when they carried F1. Still happens with CART sometimes! At least SV shows F1 live so there's no worry of that happening.
