If you had that much money for speed mods only (no tires or wheel or other cosmetic stuff) what would you get? And why?

I'm no pro as far as my knowledge of mods, but I've recently faced the same decision. I was thinking SC at first, but then thought...yeah be nice to have more power and...but around 5G for the kit, then installation...hard to justify the price for the increase in performance. Although, many people that have experienced an SC S2K only have good things to say.

I feel the car is fast as is, so opted to not go SC. I got cosmetic stuff now, and will go with the lighter mods (intake, exhaust, headers, etc.) Also, from what I understand, SCing your ride will put a bit more wear and tear on the car. So that's something to consider. If you want the car to last a bit longer, or if you dont' really care. I don't think that is TOO much of a factor though. Seems as though the S2000 is made to last and endure a lot of stress and "tough love."

Honestly, sometimes, I wish I had gone with the SC, but then again, I have yet to receive my s2r wheels, amuse lip, and c-west side and rear stuff...maybe when I put that stuff on, I will say, yeah, glad I didn't go SC.

SO I guess you just gotta decide what you want most. If a little extra stress on the engine and car is much of a factor. If not, hell go SC, or even custom Turbo if you wanna. Although the Turbo might be a little outta the range. Ok, I've rambled on enough...let us know what you decide to go with!

Lates...

Boosted
$7000
-$4500 Vortech polished supercharger
-$1200 install
-$1000 clutch/flywheel
-$300 clutch install

You may end up spending a little over $7000 to get this done, but you don't need to do it all at once. Also the clutch install is easier if done before the charger

NA
$7000
-$1000 J's 4.44 final drive gears
-$500 install
-$60 Hondata gasket
-$150 mugen temp/tstat/fan switch
-$140 install + coolant etc.
-$4150 for Mugen intake/header/exhaust
-$200 for install
-$150 Proflow or King Motorsports throttle body (self install)
-$350 VAFC
-$300 dyno tuning

Or get the comptech intake/header/exhast or spoon and have some left over $.

Yeah, it's a GREAT time to dump a lump sum into the market. In a year you might double it; then you can get your $7K of mods and have a few K left over.

But for argument's sake:
$2000: Clutch set, flywheel, and installation
$2800: Mugen header & exhaust (self install)
$200: Injen/AEM CAI (self install)
$200: Hondata gasket, tstat, tswitch, rad cap (self install)
$600: VAFC, harness, dyno tuning
$200: Brake pads
$1000: Used OEM rims and R-compound tires

Then you're ready to go racing!

JRZ suspension
lightened flywheel
head gasket, cams, springs, valves, pistons
J&S computer + wideband O2 sensor

I guess that runs up a wee bit past $7k

if I started from scratch again, it would be:

1) extra set of OEM wheels ~$600
2) track tires (Toyo RA1's or Victoracers) ~$800
3) track time ~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
4) track time ~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
5) track time ~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
6) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
7) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
8) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
9) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
10) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
11) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
12) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)
13) track time~$500 for the weekend (gas/hotel/food/few hours of track time)

that leaves you with $100 bucks in your pocket, but wait, you should cut that back some because you'll be going through brake pads and brake fluid and another set of tires or two by then.

that's

modding your car to go fast is great and all, but knowing how to use that power and putting that power to the ground makes the next guy faster and much more in control than you are.

well, that's just my take. =)
