Sounds like when you took off at the light at a moderate roll he figured he would be able to pass you and get into the right lane to make his turn.
You assumed he wanted to run but to him you just accelerated so he couldn't pass....
Perfect example of miscomunication.....
Z4's with Dad and daughter shouldn't be a challenge..

Good point. Only after the event do we realize it was clearly a challenge. I was already at a stop as the first car in the right lane, and I'd been there a good 10 or 20 seconds before he approached. He could have easily slipped into the right lane somewhere behind me before coming to a stop because not all of the other cars had approached the light and stopped.
Plus he did see me initially turn right on to the parkway, from the opposite side of the same intersection, while he was waiting for his left hand light to turn green. At that moment our cars were clearly visible to each other.
However, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same, provided I thought I had chance and my daughter was not in the car. But my car clearly looks modified, so I don't know why he went for it with such a short distance to over take me.
But it was fun nonetheless.

Cool race. If you were stock its a good battle, edge to the s2k from what I've seen...but since you have SC + gears, it was most definitaly a 3.0L, u should easily cream them at any speed. I can't wait to run a stock Z4, too bad most of them are owned by older, rich guys who don't give a hoot how long their car takes to hit 100km/h.

Yep, felt good to know what to expect next time, especially since there's a good chance the next Z4 isn't modified. But I'd like the same knowledge with other, faster cars, even if I lose (and as long as it's a similar, safe race). Nice to know where you stand. Although that could backfire and drive me to spend more than I already have on this car to make it even faster.
And you may be right on the type of Z4 owners, at least from what I've seen in my area. They all look stock. I think it would actually be cool to run into a modified one. And the guys who drive them are definitely older, but like I said originally, I could be old to many on this site (40), but I do care how fast I go. Maybe it's the age/car combo with the Z4. Maybe older guys buy other cars if they care about modifying and/or going faster. I've seen plenty of guys older than me driving clearly modified M3's.
You're only as old as you think you are.
