My friend is a DSM freak. He loves them. Actually snapped a tie rod half way down the quarter mile in his GSX and still ran an 11 sec 1/4. Those things can be real sleepers.

Probably was a GS. I used to own a GST Spyder w/full bolt ons including a Precision T4 Turbo. Turdo DSMs do not sound like raspy NA I4s. I really wanted a RWD Vert & so I deemed the S2 the best bang for my buck. Only sad part is the S2 gives me way more problems than my GST. I figure its worth the headache. hahaha...

Damn I miss her, but its always great when a fellow S2er races one. Although my Spyder would have done circles around my S2 I'd still rather have the S2. =D
I had a 97 GST with full exhaust, intake, and a boost controller. No doubt it was a quick car. Matter of fact i raced my buddies stock s2k from a 40 roll and beat him with 2 passengers in the car pretty bad. I think GST ran a 14.5 stock so with full bolt ons they can be pretty quick. HOWEVER im possitive my s2k with my current mods would beat my old GST pretty bad. My situation was different though, my tranny blew along with many other problems so i got rid of it and got the s2k. 9 grand runs daily for almost 2 years and going strong

Ex DSM owner here as well. Thing was fast with the big16g turbo and fully built motor! Don't miss anything besides the power band though.

Dang a lot of guys here have owned DSM's. I helped my brother with his alot, he had a 99 gs-t with a fully built engine, GT35r turbo, ported head, HKS 272/272 cams, 1000cc injectors, DSM Link, ect.. 412whp @ 12psi, and 609whp @ 27psi. That thing sounded so mean, and he would dust mustang cobras, camaro SS's on 100 shots, ect. It was an awesome car since it only had some rims, the rest of the body was stock. Ultimate sleeper. He also had a 99 RS eclipse and we put a Hahn stage 2 turbo kit w/ FMIC, and it was decently quick. I'm sure an s2000 would have kept up or beat that one since it only ran about a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile. I know turbo DSM's sound pretty dang mean, usually bumble bee sounding ones are NA.

I also had a DSM, 99 GS-T
painted Greddy 18r FMIC, ported 16g, bunch of supporting mods. I eventually blew up the trans, but that car was a lot of fun.

Launch at 6k? Isn't that a death warrant for your diff if the tires decide to hook instead of spinning>?

6-7k is where you would want to launch from. If you launch from 3-5k or so not enough power to break them loose causing all the strain to go to the diff.
