Default WOW, what a race(3 cars)

I was just coming back from fridays when i passed a black vette(like a 97 probably) and he gave me a dirty look and i kept on going. Further up the road i see a M3(like a 99 most likely), i try to pass and he floors it, i get to the light next to him and it turns out its someone i used to work with. So I tell him to make a right onto the service road(no traffic or cars ever) and he says ok. As soon as we turn, that black vette takes the turn wide right and gets next to us. Its 3 lanes and ahead it goes to two lanes. We all floor it while going about 20 and make a mad dash for the 2 lane area. I figured I'd hang behind them both, but to my surprise, i was out. We went to 90 or so and i was ahead and then cut it down for a light. Then from the light, its the M3 and me lined up and the vette behind the M3. We launch and me and the M3 are right next to each other to 100 and by 127 i am up half a car while the vette doesn't have the power to stay with us! I was shocked. I took a V8 vette and a V6 M3! I know those M3's were 240 horse, what bout those vettes? By the way, the M3 wasn't stock. He had at least an intake from what I could hear. Just so everyone knows, where we ran there were no other cars or places cars could pop out of. Otherwise I would haven't of run at all. Only when no one else can be put in harms way. Happy revving

I don't think it happened this time either. Sounds to me like the vette was playing around, got stuck behind the M3 and decided to back off when the speeds got too high. It certainly wasn't a lack of power that caused it to drop back at only 127mph.

An automatic C5 is slower than a manual C5 am I right?

He guesstimated the 'Vette as a 97.

It was probably older...an auto C4 with the LT1 (the LT4 would've killed, and came with the latest C4 6-speeds).

Yes, the auto is about .5s slower in a perfect 1/4 race. However, the auto will probably win with most drivers on the street just because a high % of people *think* they can drive, but can't.

The first year they made the C5 was '97. It's next to impossible to mistake a C5 for a C4...

You make a good point, carrrnuttt- an LT1 would've been a closer race, though I'd still give the nod to the C4.

I seriously have no idea where people get the mis-informed notion that the automatic C5 is somehow "slow".
