What Permutation of Rational Thought...
made the S2000 the fastest car ever?
The Honda s2000 is a great car, but the lack of torque really dimishes its favorability. Trust me I've owned or test driven Porsches, the NSX, and the S2000. For sure it can accelerate and handling is pretty good, but half the fun in sports cars comes from the torque...that incredible feeling of being pushed back in your seat as you rocket past 100mph!
Many people claim the S2000 is the best bang for the buck. I disagree. You can find a 94-95 Toyota Supra Turbo with reasonable miles for around 22K from the Autotrader and then with a mere $2000 (downpipe, exhaust, turbo timer) you can turn an already powerful 320hp car into a 400-450hp beast with equivalent amount of torque. The handling on the Supra is amazing as well.
This new beast of yours is not only drivable every day, but will toast any non-modified S2000, M3s (yep, even the new one), M5, or Porsches out there. Heck you can go against the Modena or Viper! All for around 25K!!! Now thats bang for your buck. The word is getting out though and I've noticed prices going higher. Considering its a Toyota, the maintenance is not that high. I know from personal experience....

another 5K in mods and it will smoke that Supra for only 20K.
Even better, you can buy a used Miata for 5K and put ~10K in
mods and it will smoke both of the above, for only ~15K.
Even better, you can buy a used 240SX for ~2K and swap a
turbo engine into it for ~8K and get a 10K car that will smoke
the above, or a CRX with an Integra swap and turbo... the
list goes on and on...
The fact is, the S2000 has one of the best bang for the buck
out there, for a NEW (from the dealer's floor), unmodified
car. Others in this category, in my opinion, are a new Miata,
Camaro Z28, C5 Vette, Vette Z06 and the WRX. It really depends
what you want (turbo/NA, torque/power, convertible/hard top).
As soon as you start looking into used cars or into modifications,
many more variables come into play: insurance, warranty,
reliability, desirability, value e.t.c., not just pure performance.
When you consider "bang for the buck" you just cannot compare
brand new cars with full manufacturer's warranty with modified
5-10 year old cars and only look at the performance/price figure.
Compare your '94 Supra with Nissan TT or Rx7TT or VR4
or Camaro or Vette of that age and then look at
price/performance/reliability/modifiability/desirability e.t.c.
Zoran.

Max, it is great that you join this board and your first two posts are negative (JLH in Photo Gallery). Way to ease into things, bud.
I seriously doubt you even read the thread to which you are referring. If you had, you would have noticed that the thread originator was talking smack about certain S2K owners he perceived posted unrealistic kills. It wasn't even an owner who started the thread. And nobody seemed to agree with his statement.
Why don't you take a minute and do your research before you start running your mouth.
