Don't you think it's funny that C&D previously ran a 5.8 0-60 and then changed it to a 6.3 I guess they threw out the fastest time thing and just never remember how to shift...I guess since it had the hard top on that time was the "true time" huh? Break my friggin arm and I would do better that a 14.9..

I had a pseudo-race with my friend who has an '02 Altima (same engine as Maxima, I think), and though I didn't know we were going to race (he just started going) and had a good 10 car lengths on me before I got up to speed, I was only very slowly reeling him in. Of course, with that much space between us it was kind of hard to judge how much real estate I was gaining on him. He shut down just when I expected to reel him in hard (top of 4th) since I don't think that car is geared for top end.
I was surprised with how quick that car was, but next time I will be ready for his jump and smoke his a$$
I know, I know, it's just an Altima, but they're no slouches.

The Altima gives up 15HP to the Maxima and has a 5 speed versus the Maxima 6 speed so gearing and the 15 extra HP would really make a difference. Weights are:

Altima 3.5SE with 5 speed-- 3,197

Maxima SE with 6 speed-- 3,320

Again, no slouch here.

I have personally seen a 2002 6spd Maxima go 14.23 in the 1/4 mile bone stock.
Just depends on who is driving. I think its probably easier to drag race the Maxima than the S2k.

There is a guy that lives around me and has a 6 speed maxima in which he races me in all the time and i usually beat him but if my launch is bad then he sometimes takes me. Its always really close though. They do have like 260 hp eventhough they weigh more, the extra hp takes up for the wieght. Also the guy i raced had a intake if that makes any dif.

Doesn't matter how fast a Maxima is, it's still a... Maxima. It's a nice four door sedan, but really, it's just that.

Since owning the Maxima, I've vowed to never own another Nissan, the exceptions are the 300ZX and the Skyline.
