The 02' 6 speed Maxima isn't a slouch guys. Given favorable conditions it could outrun the S. I hate magazine racing as much as everyone else, but here are some recent stats-
Report for 2003 Honda S2000
Obtained from C&D December, 2002
0-60: 6.3
1/4 Mile: 14.9
1/4 Speed: 95
2002 Nissan Maxima SE
Obtained from C&D October, 2002
0-60: 6 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 14.7
1/4 Speed: 97
I know that's very very slow for the S, but it could happen.

Maxima's are pretty quick with the new V6, since they don't weigh all that much. That said, they are pretty flimsy for a midsize passenger sedan. The sheet metal is thinner than other cars of it's class, so it is lighter and more responsive, but also less sturdy, which is not what I want when I have kids in the car. I have no doubt a race with one would be a driver's race until third gear, but I also have no doubt I am happier losing to a Maxima than driving one.
