no they dont. a lot of people think that trans-ams/z28's swap out theirs with a corvette engine to make it faster, but few dont know that they already come with it...i think thats probably what you ment?
Exactly what I meant!

I bet it was an LS1. An S/C S2K would handily beat an LT1 with ease. Even in stock form, I've taken two LT1's in the past. Stock S should be even with LT1, or may have an advantage even. So an S/C S2K would beat an LT1 with ease, like how it would beat a stock S; so therefore, it had to be an LS1.

Nope. The LS6 has slightly higher compression (due to the heads), better flowing heads, different intake (all the 2002+ C5's car has the LS6 intake, though. Dunno about the F-bodies), different cam, and different valves & springs to allow higher revs. Other changes include a differnet airbox and a slightly modified MAF configuration.
All of that is available in the aftermarket for significantly more power. I suppose it *could* be done, but you'd be wasting a HUGE amount of money to get 1/2 the power increase that a $3500 H/C kit will give you.

Honestly, I don't see why anyone would do it.... Now, an L-98 to LT4- that would be worth the swap. But an LT1 to LT4 is only about a 30 HP increase. Unless you blew your LT1, I don't see why anyone would pull a good LT1 and replace it with an LT4. Again, a H/C would be much more efficient.
