Default Traffic Ticket - CVC 21453 (a)

I was at complete stop waiting to go straight at an intersection. The light turned green for left turn. I was absent-minded and thought the green light was for going straight, I entered the intersection about half car length. I then realized the green light was not for going straight so I stopped and reversed back to the same spot before. Light turned green and I drove through the intersection.

There was a cop car on the opposite direction who saw what happened. He followed and gave me a cvc 21453 (a) violation.

I did not run through the intersection during red light.

Was the officer correct to give me the ticket? Should I contest the ticket?

Please give your opinion,

Thanks.

I'd fight that one for sure. I'm sure it will get thrown out.

Yep go to court. Half the time the cops don't show up anyways.

just go fight it, you made an honest mistake and no one was put into danger cuz you caught it pretty quickly (half car length)

Fight it... even if the cop shows up, just be honest and say u recognized your mistake right away. honesty always works.. most of the time.. in front of a judge

contest your ticket by mail - Trial by Written Declaration (pursuant to CVC 40902)

if you lose you can file for "Trial de Novo" pursuant to (CVC 40902-d). You then can appear in court for the first time for your second chance of winning.

Good luck, if you show for court its a 90% chance hes going to be there since most dept requires the officers to show and they also get paid overtime for showing up.
