Glen- I am glad that instead of just posting opinions you have posted evidence to boast your claim that Lightnings are dogs off the line. My assertion is really not that Lightnings are the king of the launch just that from my experience (30k miles worth ) they are fairly easy to launch in a repeatable manner. Whether they are dogs off the line or not is all relative. (I forgot that you have a quick vette However, Lightnings cannot defy the laws of physics. Over my 2 years of ownership what several owners have found is that the most effective mods have been ones that increased the already ample low end torque. You were right in saying that you can not neglect the traction aspect or the gearing especially on a Lightning since off the line is where it has to be it strongest to run a good et. I believe that this article should illustrate how Lightnings perform off the line. Out of 13 cars, although the Lightning had the worst et 13.62 it's 0-30 mph time would have placed it 7th.

Also the older 99 and 2000 Lightnings had a 3.55 gear ration while the newer ones 2001 and 2002 have the 3.73.
A guyt that I know ran at Speedworld stock and he went like 13.5-13.7's all night.
