Default svt f-150 vs s2000

I was heading home the other night moving at my normal fast clip when I came upon a red pickup traveling in the fast lefthand lane at less than the posted speed limit. I switched into the right lane and motored on by. Just a few seconds later I hear this godawful roar coming up along side of me. This truck sounded angry. He blows past me and I am doing around 65. A quick downshift into third had me in the sweet spot and I began to pursue. We stayed pretty much even until we shut down around 100. By this time I had passed the exit I needed to get home and coincidentaly he was getting off at the next exit which I now needed to take, so I followed him. We catch a green light as we approach the end of the ramp and we both go left. I was just trying to get home. He must have thought I was tailing him because he accelerates up to the next light veers into the far right hand lane leaving me with the far left hand lane open. The light is red and sandwiched between us is an older woman in some sort of granny looking four door sedan. This is a huge intersection in front of a large mall. There are cars stacked at every light literally dozens deep. I'm thinking there is no way this guy is going to want to go from here. I look over and through the old lady's car and this dude is staring at me with a snarl on his face and as our eyes make contact he power jacks his truck. Never one to back down from a challenge I rev to 7k. We are now both revving full bore waiting for the light to change. Can't imagine what that woman was thinking. We get green and I drop at 7k, instantly the rear kicks out to the right and were off. By the end of 1st he has at least a one length lead, by the middle of 2nd he is still pulling and has at least 2 lengths on me. Traffic got thick and we both shut down. Man that truck is fast. Earlier when we exited and I was behind him I saw his SVT badging. If I ever have the need for a pickup again........

I looked at two brand new Lightnings at lunch today. I'm thinking that I may have to have one.

From a stop?? I would have thought the S2K would get out infront of a 4,000 lb lead sled. His story says that the truck got out infront and stayed there. I have no problem believing that from a roll the "L" would win, but from a stop I woulda guessed the Stook would have done pretty good for a couple hundred feet. The "L" just has inherent traction problems with lots of torqur and no weight in the rear, they generally don't get out very well at all.

I have never driven a Stook so I'm just going of HP/weight and gearing numbers.

The recent model SVT Lightnings are vicious. They are heavy (I mean, it's a freakin' truck.) but have gobs of HP and torque. Enough to rip your doors off at the line if you don't clutch dump it. Not only that, they SHOULD be able to hand it to N/A S2000s from a stop every time.

Isn't Dodge putting the viper engine into a truck? That should be interesting ...

Yep, it should be pretty quick. My friend dropped a Viper motor in a regular cab short bed Dakota sport and it's a kick. The new RAM will have the 500hp motor, my friend's is 465hp. Don't know if the hp difference will be enough to overcome the weight difference between the two, but the new RAM should still be pretty quick.
