Summer = more road rage? (a bit long)
Does anyone else think that the summer months bring out every idiot with a car?
Here is my story...I am cruising to the store this morning about 11am. I'm on a 4 lane road and just following along with traffic at about 50-55 in a 45 zone. There are cars in the right and left lanes in front of me. This jekoff in a red Corsica (of all things) comes hawling up behind me and gets right on my ass. I have no idea where he come from and there is nowhere for either of us to go at this point so I ignore him. He switches lanes...he switches back...ect., ect....until the car in front of me makes a turn and I have clear road. I look back and he is obviously pissed that I haven't sped up and he gets even closer. Well I had enough at that point so I stabbed the brakes for a second (while watching him panic to hit his), downshift to second and nail it. I got a great chirp and a little fishtail from my brand new tires, too. I left him like he was in reverse and let off at about 65. About a mile up the road there is a hill with a light on the other side. I got to the intersection and changed lanes just as the jerkoff comes over the hill, slams on the brakes and comes about 2 inches from nailing the car I just stoped next to. He would have creamed me if I hadn't moved.
Don't go away, the story isn't over...I look back at him and he is staring me down like I just killed his dog or something. When the light turns green he changes lanes and gets on my ass again. I squeze through a bit of traffic...he follows...I speed up a bit...he follows...I slam on the brakes and pull a 35-40mph 90 degree turn onto a side street...he tries to follow. Last I saw him the front end of his POS chevy was up on the curb. I know it goes with the territory of owning a car like this to get a lot of attention...but why does it have to be so much BAD attention?
The end. I feel better. Thanks for listening.

I had this same problem a few days ago...I was making a left turn onto an outer road where there's a big curve, and a silver Insight was behind me. The girl starts tailing me, and so I gun it an take off. Later in the night, some Acura (couldn't see which one) starting tailing me and followed me onto the outer road. I turned into my subdivision going 35, tires squealing, and look in the rearview mirror only to see this guy squealing his tires just to keep up with me...WTF?

Maybe the guy wanted to pass. I've done that hitting the brake move before and I don't think I'll do it again. Who knows if that idiot behind me is going to react in time and mess up my S2. I'll never brake on a tailgaiter again. It's just not worth the risk.

I usually don't either...but I figured I could get out of his way since I downshifted and layed on the gas half a second later. My big question is where the f*** the guy came from and why was he on my ass like I had stolen his car? I mean it's just a matter of common courtesy to keep a little distance from a nice car, is it not? I don't go around tail gaiting people all the time and my car IS faster than most...so what are these idiots thinking?

I know what you mean. I was driving home the other night on the freeway, in the middle lane, going with the flow, and this guy in a trans am comes blowing up behind me. The lanes on both sides are clear - but instead this dork gets within 2 feet of my bumper. I speed up a bit - he speeds up ...etc. We then round a corner where cops always sit (to eat donuts?) and I very quickly change lanes and slow down. He goes blowing by - laughing. ANd for once there was a god (or cop) and he got pulled over. HaHaHa.
