Default stock s2k vs. reflashed gti

so my friend just got eurosport exhaust (about 40 pounds lighter than stock) and a giac reflash on his mkv gti, and the giac site claims a 35-60hp gain and 60-80lb torque gains, so i was thinking crap, hes gonna walk me after spending less than a grand. So he stops by my house and he gives me a ride, and it pulls pretty hard, so i figured i didnt really have a chance, so when we get back home im like "lemme get behind you so i can see how hard you pull on me." we go out to the closest straight away get up to about 35 and floor it, aaaaaaaaaand not only do i keep up but i actually creep up on him a bit, but we shut it down around 95 cuz we caught up to traffic.
i know keeping up with a gti may not be too exciting for you guys, but maybe just expecting to lose made this a bit more gratifying.

They're still weak cars with drivers that think they're unbeatable after a reflash. Good reality check.

I wouldn't be so quick to call them weak cars there pal.
I owned a MKV w/ Stage 1 APR and it was pretty quick for less than $600 spent.

I'm on my 3rd S right now and let me just say this....from a stop I beat many AP1's and the same from a 1st gear punch.

Driver mod is key.

OK, I wouldn't call them weak either, but the word fast, doesn't exactly come to mind. There more of a friendly everyday commuter, with some giddy up.

Stage 1 GTI MKV's are about a 97-98 MPH trap car. SO they can definitely hang tight for a few gears. However the problem they run into is their small ko3 turbo runs out of steam up top. A few of my buddies have stage 1 and stage 2 MKV's, and none of them have yet to pull on my basically stock G35 coupe (CAI). Thats stage 2 included.

This just happened the other night. And I know you guys know how quick a stock '04 G35 coupe is..

I wouldn't worry about them unless they are stage 2, personally. If you know how to drive your S anyway.

You wouldn't call it weak? I would, buddy.

Yeah, the driver is key when you have a decent car that can run, which the MkV is not. Nice DD with pep but it's nothing to feel great about.

Ok, well eurotuner just did a test with the apr, giac, and revo reflash on the mkv, and they all did around 205-210hp at the wheels with 248tq for the giac so maybe i dont have so much to worry about. But of course 248tq is nothing to sneeze at, my friend smokes his tires in second gear. Now he definately needs an lsd and some better suspension so all the weight doesnt shift to the back when he punches it.

The MKV could smoke the tires until 3rd and even chirp into 4th. I ran my buddies GTS Type M Skyline (r32) ...he has larger FM, downpipe, 3" exhaust turbo back....I put serious lengths on him.

I wouldn't call any of these cars 'fast', they're quick. The c6 Z06 I am debating purchasing is what I call fast.

The term is relative.

I was speaking within the realm of compact cars, though, like the GTi, Si, WRX, MS3, SRT-4. The GTI is the weakest of the bunch.

Definitely post some street encounters if you get the Z06
