stock s2000 vs. stock previous generation WRX
On the weekend I raced a stock previous generation WRX from about 40kph to about 220kph.
As I was coming onto an onramp on to the M1 he pulled up my but. I dropped to first and took off.
He hung really well with me upto about 130kph, if there was room he probably could have pulled on me. 130 kph on I pulled quite hard though. By the time I hit 220kph I had several car lengths on him so I shut down.

You're not wrong! I would have been probably toast.
I met this cool guy with a new sti the other night but he couldn't run because he only had 300km on it. This Thursday night me and another friend with a slightly modded s2k will run him. He should eat us up.
You guys didn't get the previous generation wrx did you?
Are you aware that the previous generation WRX has the same power output but is about 300lbs lighter? That alone makes it a hell of a lot faster than the current model. All in all up to 130kph its more than a match for a s2000.

Absolutelly. I found exactly that myself. In order to stay with the WRX bellow 130kph you really need to be well into your powerband or he's pull on you.

I think you'll be pleasanlty surprised. The new STi is barelly quicker then the prev-gen WRX that you just raced. I was with a new STi on the track last weekend and I was on his butt for a lap or two. To my surprise coming out of 80kph corners he could not get away from me. He pulled very slighly for the first 2 seconds but then it was very even. If I got on power before him, I was actually able to get allongside him by 160kph.
Though, do some 'proper' runs and let us know ... always good to get someone elses perspective.
