Stock S2000 vs. Modded WRX
Tonight I challenged a buddy of mine to take our cars on the road. He agreed, He has a 03 wrx with greddy exhaust and a new ecu--he was running it at 14 pounds of boost(keep in mind stock boost is 7psi) We took it on the highway he had no passengers I had a buddy of mine to witness the entire thing. We took off from a 50mph roll, I dropped it into 2nd and we took it up to about 135!! When i shut down I had about 3 cars on him. Next time we started from a 25mph roll, I put it in 1st, and took it to about 100mph, almost same result. 3rd time He got the jump on me and pulled about 1 carlength right off the start(50mph) I was catching up slowly until i hit 100mph then i had about 1/2 a car on him all in all a good night for for the s2k. I have a feeling he cranked up the boost on the last run, bc the previous two runs i waxed him, and the 3rd seemed much closer. What kind of hp do u think his car was running with 14pounds of boost?

Stock boost is 13.7psi. If the exhaust is turboback the gain in hp would be 10-15hp. If it is only catback the gain would be 5-6hp. So basically you were running a stock WRX.

BTW, there is no *WAY* that stock boost for that car is 7PSI. It's more like 13 or 14PSI.

Not sure about the "new ecu". Did he said if it was a reflashed ECU, or a UTEC? And yes, the stock boost is about 13psi in 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd go only up to 10psi (unless you do another simple mod )
I ran my WRX with JohnnyS2K the other night, and my car pulled on him very hard. We didn't go over 80, so not sure if he would've catched up. Mind you I have a Stage II kit recently tuned. Also ran a new M3, but he did catch up and passed me

I apologize I guess the guy didn't know what he was talking about, he told me stock boost was 7psi, 14 sounds more reasonable. His exhaust is a turbo cat back exhaust and I'm pretty sure he put in a UTEC chip.
Thanks

Like it was said before, 14psi is very close to stock boost. If he does in fact has a UTEC, it probably isn't tuned right, since he should be able to push about 16 to 17psi on the stock turbo with the mods he has. Turboback exhaust + UTEC (properly tuned) should yield about 270-280 crank horsepower.

Depending on the turbo back, he can see more then 10-15 hp easy to the crank. Not saying this is true, but TXS claims 20 + WHP form their turbo back. And every site that sells their exhaust says the same thing, and they have dynos to proove it. Now I wouldnt be surprised if you see much less then that when you actually get it, but yeah...
Also, if he was running 14 pounds, he does not have the UTEC. He was basically stock.

It's a turbo back exhaust, not cat back, and the rex actually does pick up some nice gains from them. The stock system is damn restrictive and it is a turbo car and as we all know, turbo cars tend to pick up larger gains from bolt on modifications.
