I didn't mess with my tires until too late to try to get better launchs (launches weren't bad, but when you launch and you don't stay near vtec once you get going, it's SLOOOOOOOW)

anyways, 8k launches, riding clutch out

i got:

60 ft: 2.122
1/8: 9.378 @ 75.90
1/4 14.427 @ 98.13

All i have is exhaust.

Rear tire pressure was at 32 psi and it provided way too much grip.

I wish i had checked my front tire pressure before i started running too as it was at 30 psi

Oh well, there's always next time. It was definitely fun launching a rear wheel drive car for a change, but it wasn't fun not having enough power to spin the tires to try to control the launch.

First "test" pass to see where i was at grip wise, dumping the clutch from 7k and straight hooking off the line snapping my neck lol.

Dropped from 7k rpms to 4k... and then slowly went back up and ran a 14.66.

On the 14.42 run i used the clutch to control my rpms, as even with the car floored from 8k, it wasn't enough to overcome the tires.

Last night I ran my 2006 S2K at Carolina Dragway, in Jackson, SC. The weather conditions were as follows:
Temp: 82 F
HUmidity: 70%
Bar pressure: 30.11 inHg

Below are my best 4 runs:

..........Run 1----Run 2-----Run 3------Run 4
R/T ..... 0.326----0.356-----0.416-----0.279
60' ..... 2.083----2.127-----2.106-----2.083
330'..... 5.995----6.031-----5.995-----5.972
1/8 ..... 9.130----9.157-----9.118-----9.119
MPH ..... 77.99----77.88-----78.12-----78.13
1000..... 11.822---11.838----11.796----11.822
1/4 ..... 14.070---14.077----14.036----14.096
MPH.... 102.13---102.32----102.41----100.26

I was always launching around 5k RPM, and was getting OK traction, but not great. I have the OEM Dunlop tires with less than 30% thread left.
My current mods are:
K&N FIPK intake, Invidia 60 mm test pipe, Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust, FlashPro with Toda Calibration loaded.

I was actually fairly happy with my time, although I know I could've dipped into the 13's with better tires and launch.
Due to my trap speed, I also kept shifting to 5th gear at the very end, and I know that also hurt my time some. However, I didn't want to bounce off the rev limiter at the end fo each run (set to 8400 RPM).

Let me know if you have any suggestions on how I could make my time a little better.

Thanks!

yeah with your 103 mph traps speeds is deff good for atleast a mid 13....hardest part is the launch as it shows in your 60' .....work on that and deff hold it in 4th gear in you will be in the 13's all day...u shouldnt be bouncing off the rev limiter as i have stock rev limit and i barely bounce and we have similar traps...any weight reduction???

edit: your times/mph are also pretty inconsistent, did you miss gears and have issues??

Thanks for the feedback. If I ever make it back there I will work on my launch.
I mistyped my first 1/4 mile time (it was 14.070, but typed 15.070). I also fixed my top MPH (was actually 102.41)
Other than that, I think the runs were fairly consistent.

Thanks.

all these ap2's make my ap1 feel slow. And then you got the guys with AP1's somehow trapping 103 mph. Which is NOT normal. I think even if i had held the clutch and rode it out until i got into vtec and then let it out... i wouldn't have run faster than a 14.2 @ 98-99

Honestly, for those times. Your times are very slow considering your 60 ft times and trap speed. with a 2.0 60 and 102 traps you should be running 13.7's at the very worst. It seems like you're losing all your time in the 1/8 mile, as 9.1 isn't very fast for a 2.0 60.

Thanks. I also noticed other people here with similar 60' times running high 13's, and about 8.9's in the 1/8 mile. I am not sure where the problem is and wish I could figure it out since I obviosuly want to improve my time. Once I took off, my tires were hooking pretty well, and I was shifting fairly fast and right at redline. Not sure where and why I am losing speed.

I forgot to mention that I had removed my spare tire, deflated my rear tires to about 25 psi and had about 1/2 tank of gas. Also, I drove about 3 hrs to get to the track, so the car was pretty warmed up.

I definitely appreciate everyone's observations!

seat time is key...couple more runs and with that trap theres no reason you cant run a 13.5 - 13.7....i have yet to go this year and i am still untuned, im confident with a tune and a 70mm tb and about 50 pounds lighter imma gonna be knocking on 12's and eventually get there...

05 AP2 Completely STOCK, out of Sacramento, CA

-------Run 1-------Run 2-----------Run 3
RT:----.165--------.244-----------.504
60:----2.368-------2.326----------2.200
330:---6.381-------6.339----------6.116
1/8:---9.592-------9.534----------9.280
MPH:---77.013------75.580---------77.444
1000:--12.353------12.271---------12.009
1/4ET:-14.670------14.560---------14.293
MPH:---94.824------97.760---------97.885

First run I babied it off the line and let off before the finish because I thought I was at the end. Second attempt, bogged off the line alittle and shifted alittle before red line in 3rd? and last run, okay launch, shifted slightly early again in 3rd?

I would also recommend getting at the very least a proper e-tune. I got mine done from evans tuning, and the toda reflash was still a bit too lean, plus there was significant knock retard. He can tune all of that out, straighten up your A/F ratio and you will have a smoother, consistent power band. Also, try holding 4th gear all the way out - even if that means going to 8500rpms in 4th, you wouldn't need to go that high in all the other gears, plus obviously power shifting always helps a little.
