Just drove another STI today. This would be my fourth time. I redlined it quite a few times and took quite a few corners.

It felt fast and solid, but it also felt heavy at the same time. It felt heavier than an Evo, but they both weigh the same. Its gear box is inferior to my S2K's, and the interior is subpar.

It sure could move though. But somehow it wasn't nearly as fun as an S. Driving an S with the top down is orgasmic though, and the S2K's gear box is definitely among the best in the world. I have not driven a car that has a better gear box. NSX's gear box is very sweet, but even it's not better.

Overall, I wouldn't mind having an STI (or Evo) as a sedan for long trips, rainy-day driver, or as a people mover. But I don't see them as a replacement for a fun roadster (S2000).

They are asking $27.5K for an '04 STI with 500 miles, and no paint warranty. Apparently, it was caught in a storm and the warranty was voided. However, there's nothing wrong with the paint; looks like new. But no warranty though. What if it chips in a year or so?

I'm contemplating of getting one, if they'd do it for $25K. Sometimes, I like to be more comfortable in a sedan for long trips or rainy days, and that car sure can move.

The thing about warranties is, even if you did have a 'paint warranty' on a car like that, it's still up to the dealer to pull out the ol' "owner abuse" flag regardless of your claim. With any high performance car, that "owner abuse" BS gets used quite often, even if there never was abuse. It's just taken for granted.
