How fast is an SL55? I drove a SL65 for the good part of a day once (that thing is a beast! Too bad it's an auto though!), but not sure how the SL55 compares to that
SL55 in stock trim is rated at 510hp (crank). It can run a 0-60 in about 4.5 sec and trap a 1/4 mi with a 13.00 ET @ about 110 mph (per Car & Driver). I have seen dragtimes posted for stock SL55's as fast as 12.51 ET @ 116 mph, but that is exceptional.

But it is a heavy little beast with a curb wt of 4395 lbs. Plus it is geared fairly tall so that it can run 150mph on the autobahn all day but is still electronically limited to 155mph. Sounds like if you really had your boost dialed down to 10 psi (370 hp), then you were lucky to encounter a pair of chicks driving daddy's stock SL55 (ever wonder if they were just playin wit u?)

The Supercharged Kompressor engines from AMG are well easy to hotrod. Add a mild pulley and LET tune or a Kleeman system and they are able to dyno close to 500 RWHP or more (saw one with 569 RWHP). It is not unusual to see a modded version trapping lo to mid 11's at 125 mph or so (on 93 octane pump gas). Taking the electronic limiter off of the ECU on the SL55 and they have been clocked at top speeds of 202 mph, GPS verified. That was with a pulley, ECU tune and a few other minor mods. Nothing fancy. No NOS, or race gas or other abnormalities.

I posted on Car Talk about a guy on MBWorld.org who ran 11.2 @ 128 with his E55. Only power mods were crank pulley, shortie headers, throttle body, ECU tune, race cats and airbox.

There's a local here hitting low 11s (his best was 10.80) in an E55 AMG but I forget what all it had done to it.

p.s. The guy was extremely nice and humble enough to say his car may be fast in a straight line, but it's no match for the s2k in the corners

The E55 is a few hundred pounds lighter than the SL55 and as such is nearly always a little bit faster in a straight line than the SL. Go figure, the sedan is faster than the sportscar version, lol. I have an acquaintance from Bristol who I witnessed running a 11.05 at about 128 mph in the 1/4 mi in his E55. That is the quickest non-NOS run ever posted. He has run high 10's with NOS, but his car is modded to the hilt. The S2K is one of the most capable 4 cylinder sportscars available today when applied to the track or the twisties and neither of the AMG's is going to match that due if for no other reason to their much higher weight. But, make no mistake, the AMG's are not slow and are quite capable of ripping thru twisties with great confidence. My original point was only - the OP beat what sounds like a stock SL55 driven by a gurl, in his turbo'ed S2K, lol. Danica Patrick notwithstanding, big deal. He shoulda won.

Just beware of the unrestricted or modded SL or E55 driven by somebody who knows his car cause he just might spank you (unless that S can run 200mph) I say "Might" cause there are some 10-11 sec S2K turbos out there also. Most are running 22-25 psi boost on race fuel at sealevel but they are also little beasts, lol.
