Friday night the wife and I were on the way into SLC just cruising on the freeway when a new Evo entered the freeway right in front of me- I noticed the wing from behind and thought it was an STI- I have been waiting for the opportunity to run either of the two since I bought my car back in december- just my luck I run into one with the wife in the car who has a tendency of yelling and bitching whenever I decide to play a little- So i turn to the wife and say babe- just chill -I want to see if this guy will do a quick 3rd or 4th gear punch, not an all out top speed free way run- she just shakes her head.

So I roll up next to the Evo we are cruising at around 70 -75 and when i shift into 3rd to prepare- and my revs are too high like 7.5k or so, so i shift to 4th and am right around 6-6.5, Im in the fast lane and the Evo is in the lane next to me- I creep up along side him not even sure if this guy will bite and sure enough he immediately takes off- and to be honest its a little intimidating, he just bolts- quick- instead of giving chase on a unfair start where I would have been giving chase I flash my brights a few times to get him to slow back down and line them up, he slows back down and gets right along side me and looks over, I point ahead and honk 3 times and were off- I immediately pull about a half a car and continue to pull slowly up to about 120 when I had to let up because of traffic, when I shut down I would say he was right at my rear bumper- maybe a half car behind my rear bumper, those cars are definitely no joke- I'm not sure what; if anything he had done to it- it was white, looked brand new- and my first real test in the S

The Evo is an unbeatable car. Taking an STi is fathomable, but the Evo is an absolute animal. It doesn't matter what you have done to your S. The Evo is la creme de la creme, and it's the only motor vehicle that can enter orbit. I'm compelled to say it...

the evo was modded. a sc'd s2k moves very well on the hwy. the 9's boogie, but it wouldnt have a chance against you on the hwy.

ever seen the vid of the sc'd s2k pulling the new carrera s (355hp) on the hwy?

with few mods those evos are quick. i raced a bone stock evo 9 from a 55mph roll on 3rd and took him out by 3-4 cars up to 120 and im boosting about 9 on comptech s/c. besides the fact i wasn't in my true power range what really surprised me was for about a good 2 seconds the evo was RIGHT next to me going even until i hit about 7500rpm in my ap2.

Sounds about right.
I have taken a black Evo from a 45mph roll till 85mph by about 3/4 car lenghts give or take.
