shifting at 8300 will not make you drive faster....first to second if you can actually catch it at 8300 should put you out of vtec, the shift at 9200 will put you at a higher rpm in the next gear then if you shift at 8300. If you look at the dyno graph 9200 is still making more power than say 6000-7000. You may be a decent driver but not in a s2k. You should rape the living day lights out of a wrx after the launch. Atleast a car per gear.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but I agree with pretty much every post here. There's no way a WRX should be able to close the gap, much less pass you. I've done nothing but walk every WRX I've ever raced, by a good 7 car lenghts to 100. Clearly shifting at 8300 has to be the problem.

Well it is good to know thats I might not be causing the damamge I though I was because I don`t ever remembering my fuel cutting out.But then again it could have happend...I change my Oil about every 3k...Also I am Due for my 30k Mile Vavle Adjustment so that should be all help out a little bit I think....

V-Ant Nah I don`t drop out of V-Tec I am acutally at about 7grand after I shift....(And I have beaten a decent amount of cars driving that way)

I read that the car doesn`t make any HP after 8300 anyway so I figured intead of taking the chance of over reving I should just shift there...Because I`ll be in my next gear faster and would have already made my Max HP.....I don`t mean to sound like a know it all but it made scense to me when I though about it so I started doing it....
honda clearly knows where thier peak power is. If shifting at peak power was the best thing, then the redline would be lower... hitting and passing peak power gives your car momentum, and shifting at 9200 puts you CLOSER to peak power in your next gear. Honda knows what thier doing when it comes to gearing...shift at 9000-9200 rpm for fastest acceleration. shifting at 8300 would probably net you 1/4th times of 14.7 with a good launch..which is far from great.

hold on... we can shift at 9200? i always shift at 9000... because after 9k i hit rev limiter... im just curious.

Nice runs...

While some are sayin that the S2000 should have dropped the wrx like a bad habit, I am not sure if it was noted that the wrx was not stock.

Depending on what kind of exhaust the wrx had, the results are not too surprising. With a turboback, a wrx puts down around 200whp. That jumps to around 220whp with an increase in boost from 14.1 to 15.5.- 16psi .

Even without the increase in boost, the agressive first 3 gears allow the car to run slightly quicker than the S2000 until 4th gear (1st of 2 overdrive gears in wrx 5mt), at which po

Congrats on the win.
I know that i'm not the best driver out there, and have alot to learn (and even more now that its been months since i've even sat in my S) but I would definitely think it would be much more beneficial in a race to take the car all the way to 9k. In regards to putting the car to 9200, i honestly did not even know we could. i truly though the rev limiter would kick in prior to that. I guess i need to hit the books and do a little more research.

I dont see what so funny warpinoy is it because I asked a question about racing my car and trying to better myself at it? I was told something by a fellow S2K driver to shift at 8300 and thats what I did....It clearly isn`t true if I lost when I should have won. Like I said I am a pretty good driver. Buit I was given the wrong info..and For you informantion I was shifting at 9K and beating alot of car until I was talking to a fellow driver and he said not to shift at that point. I am pretty sure if you wer new to driving your car and racing it and someone else told you that who has been racing alot of people for over ayear in thier car and wining alot of races you would take thier advice

Okay I own both an S2k and a WRX. Let me tell you, a WRX being sidestepped at 5.5K is alot faster off the line than an S2000 being dropped at 6.5K.. i dont care who you are.

After that, the S2k should pull HARD through 3rd and 4th gear as previously stated. This is stock for stock, although my s2k is not stock.

Btw- 8300 = shitt driving
