I drove 3 hrs from the dealer when I first got the STi too, but I didn't test out the top end until 1 month later. I babied it until 1k miles. But it was fun pulling on riced out civics on the highway and I was at no more than 3/4 throttle and shifting at 4k rpm.
Yes, well mine was already broken in. An old guy traded it in with just over 5k miles on a brand new S4 at the Audi dealer a couple hours away. Salesman said it wasn't cushy enough for him, so his loss, I got it for $26k and it was in absolute showroom condition.

So I got to jump right in head first to the laand of boost. It was a fun ride home!!

I would say the STI would pull away, as mentioned we have the EVO and S and the EVO pulled the S when it was bone stock up to 120. I dont see a problem with the STI doing the same.

Keep in mind the topend thing on both the EVO and STI is very overrated...If a car (like our EVO) can hit 150 with no problem, I dont see where it can be said it doesnt have top end.

I was wondering if anyone raced an sti on the highway? what were your resulfts?
Hey I jsut read your sig. If you think you can beat your S in your EVO, then the results should be the same in a STi. Those two cars are very close, the STi is only a hair faster.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm a bit confused. If the STI is a tad bit faster than the Evo and the S sticks with the Evo in some cases, then wouldn't the STI pull a bit more since it is supposed to be faster than the two?

There is also a decent hp advantage to the STI and I'm assuming gearing since it is a 6 speed....don't these also come into play? Does the STI lose that much more due to drivetrain loss?

What is the drag coefficient of the EVO, S and STI? Anyone know?

Thanks all!

Ps. Again, I'm not trying to start an argument, but would just like some clarification. Love all 3 cars, great machines and great bang for the buck.

STi has more hp / tq... it would obviously pull a bolt on s2000 at will! If you have FI then that's a different story. Stock s2k forget about it... you'll get pulled!

I would agree. The STI slams you back into the seat with virtually no turbo lag. It is much, much faster than the S.

poor ap1 owners. JK. well as of yet, i have film, and will have more. my buddies stock sti, with catback. we roll on from 45mph. dead even all the way out, 155 mph. when he runs 18 psi, (controller) he walks away, pretty good, has me about 5-6 cars by 140. i have to do more runs to prove it 100 %. here in vegas we do it over and over till we have the truth. ive rolled with him stock and him catback, about 4 times. cant pull me, now i have intake, and we havent rolled with him on 14 psi. but when we rolled with him on 18, pulled me less than before. and i pull a stock evo every time, about 1-2 cars. but thats a guy i know, like youll ever see a stock evo. after this weekend, ill have stage 2 clutch, and S tech springs. so we shall see if lowering, and actually having a clutch that holds, helps me beat any of these fools better than before. yes im still workin on getting my cam mount, so i can film me playing with LS1s. laters homies. dave

one of my friends has a wrx with sti parts an upgraded turbo and stage 5 tuning its at 415 horse on pump and almost 500 on race gas and he pulled me by 3 cars on the highway from 70-100 in my ss camaro then i caught him by 130 and wound up passing him by 140 so from 70-100 they are mean and from 100 up they dont have too much more top end
