So I'm on my way home exiting of of 35E south onto Cliff Road. I make a right and stop at the stop light. In my rear view mirror I see someones HID's flashing as they approach me. A blue sedan pulls up next to me. All of the sudden I hear some V8 roarin' and revin' up. I look into my driver's side mirror expecting someone behind me, but it was the guy right next to me. I totally was surprised because I thought this was just the luxury sedan with the standard V6 220hp. I give him the nod and the light turns green. I jumped quickly ahead in 1st and see him launch hard right next to me. I shift next into second at about 7000rpm which was way too soon and a second later he still next to me. We're going about 76mph on a 45mph speed limit and I shift into third, and so does he. We were approaching the next light so I let of the gas and let him pass. He rolls down the window and asks me what I got. I told him just basic bolt ons. He was surprised i could keep up with him. As he pulled away, I noticed the red CTS-V badge and realize later he had the LS6 Z06 engine. It was dumb fun, but I've got to learn to shift at 8600.

I thought it had the Z06 engine--405hp? Driven properly, it is a high 12-sec car.

The Z06 is an 11 sec car under the right conditions in stock form but keep in mind the CTS-V is heavier, geared differently and has some serious wheel hop issues. The CTS-V is E46 M3 fast but easier to drive fast because of the abundant torque. It should have crushed an S2000 under the given circumstances unless he had trouble with wheel hop.

im with ya on this one. i havent run into the car yet. but lets do some speculation here. i run my friends stage 3 M roaster almost every day. well after i turn off, he goes further and then down durango to home. almost every day, he ends up racing the same cts-v. and he nails it out of the hole, then it catches slowly and holds him to 110. i have heard this story daily. and he wants me to run the caddy. when the M and i run, we are dead even. so, i believe ya 100%. if the guy couldnt drive, and you were wuss shiftin, it could have been this close. anyways, laters dave.

what's a "3 M roaster"?? Sounds like a meat spit to me... that thing must have some serious mods to keep up with an S2k.. Or are you just talking about the BMW M Roadster?? If so, I hope he's got the S52 motor..
