the point would be less bs talking out the ass and more fact-based discussion. Saying "I can do X because I did Y once on a really crappy day" is just speculation.
several people have already said they have run these times, including some more than once.

the car is capable of 13.7-13.8. that's a fact. two even broke into 13.6

ah, but the Mustang can launch hard on street tires all day long, and nothing will ever break, because it was designed to take that kind of abuse. I'm thinking of at least one Japanese make that doesn't do this...

The issue about running 13.7 more than once is that anomalies happen. For a world record, they demand that the record-setter make multiple runs, not just one lucky run and call it a day. I don't think that is an unreasonable standard. I'm even willing to let the same day requirement slide. Ten people running 13.7 once each is not nearly the same as one person running 13.7 on several different nights. If the best you can do is 13.7, and your second best ever is 14 flat, which you've done countless times, your car really only reliably runs 14 flat, but you once got lucky and burned off a 13.7. Would you bet money on any given day you could do it again?
the S2000 can launch hard on street tires all day long and will not break something any more often than a mustang GT.

when I owned my first S2000 I had a couple 13.7's and a handful of 13.8-13.9 times. 14.0's were the order of the day when traction was an issue or the weather was warmer.

I probably should, but I'm trying to see if my 2nd set of rear s02's will last longer than the 1st set...10k miles. Another reason is the track,it is in Quebec and going through customs sometimes takes 1.5 hrs since 9-11.

On a side note my son has a 89 foxbody 5.0 that is supercharged with water/alcohol injection, 373 gearing and a bunch of other stuff. There is no way my S would hold a candle to it in a straight line race.

Maybe someday I'll get it up there again.

[QUOTE=no_really,Jul 12 2005, 12:23 PM] ah, but the Mustang can launch hard on street tires all day long, and nothing will ever break, because it was designed to take that kind of abuse.

I think you suscribe to the theory that just because you said something stupid in the first thread you ever posted in, now you have to sound like an ass every time you join a discussion.
