Simply by looking at numbers, a car making 280-300 rwhp that weighs what, 3000 lbs at most vs. a car making 310-330 rwhp weighing in at 3500 lbs, the lighter car should win. But what about rwtq, gearing, suspension, traction, etc...and all of a sudden those few numbers that you throw around mean squat. Many of those f-bods are making 330-350 rwtq with a flat tq curve and hook very well.

And anyone that after getting smoked on the street or h-way were to start running at the mouth about how much faster his/her car is in corners or a roadcourse is so lame.

BruteHareS2K, did you get destroyed by someone in a GM. Why the hate? If you don't like the cars fine, but this hate means something. You can drive your car to the best of your ability and I, in my POS GM, playing with my radio, not paying attention, will freight train you. But I guess you have your reasons.

As CantonRacer mentioned, look at the torque curves in addition to peak numbers. The larger displacement LS1 will beat a Vortech'd (or any centrifugal s/c) K-motor. I can see where the race would be close though.

Some of the custom turbo set-ups reported here have a shot though (building boost at 3K).

Checkout the "Battle of the Brands" article in Road & Track Vol 52 #5 Jan 2001. Camaro SS lapped Thunderhill in 2 mins 16.46 secs compared to 2 mins 17.66 for an S2000 or 2 mins 17.46 for a Boxster S. All cars driven by Steve Millen. Looks like the Camaro SS can corner and brake too, certainly enough to outpace an S2000 at Thunderhill. Quote from Millen in the article:
"The Camaro is a very smooth car to drive with nice linear power and a broad power band. It feels stable and planted through quick corners-even sliding. It still feels very connected, so you're not worried about what it's going to do. ...... This car, you could lap all day."

People who say LS1 F-bodies don't handle, generally haven't driven one.
I've just sold my 2000 TA (admittedly it ended up with highly modded suspension and brakes) and the car was a great drivers car. This coming thursday however my WCM Ultralite S2K (http://www.wcmultralite.com/main.html) is being delivered and I will have stepped up to a new level of performance motoring (no doubting that the F20C motor is a fantastic piece of engineering !). Still I have good memories of the TA. Stock for stock I wouldn't drag race an LS1 in an S2000 and I'd expect the LS1 to also hang close in the corners too if the driver knows his stuff.

He claimed to me that he saw a show where the S2000 was compered with the base vette and the S2000 was right behind it, not sure what show, maybe MotorTrend or Car and Driver who knows if anyone knows about this please let us know. Another thing I apologize to Kumar75150 for any caused tension. Well my personal opinion is that Camaros and TransAms are great Muscle cars but I like a drivers car and I dont think any of the two are. About Steve Millen and the magazine well I dont really care what most of those magazines say, just read them for the news articles not for comparisons cuz Ive read some incredible things in those "major" magz. The S2000 is not invincible at all but to me the fun factor of that car it almost is . Does anyone here knows who is currently selling the fastest production car in the world??? Last I heard was the Buggati Veyron or something like that. Thanx
Horsepower doesn't necessarily equate to fast. Just because the Buggati has 1,000 hp doesn't mean it is fast. If you read the write-ups on the car so far you will see that it has had very bad reviews. The thing is a tank and drives like a pig. Same as with the new 1,000 hp Cadillac coming out.

If you are simply talking production cars I believe the Enzo and/or the new Carrera GT holds the record for fastest.

Cool thanx. Yeah I know that horsepower doesnt equate to fast but its good you mentioned it for those with the doubt. I also asked about the fastest car because the last official one I heard of was the McLaren F1 but everyday new cars come out with gazillions horses running over 230mph. Well tahnx for the info.
