46 M3 is a SWEET car, but it's not undefeatable, and certainly not out of R32 territory. Completely a driver's race. I've beaten two e46 M3's at the drags at Qualcomm, one was running Mickey Thompson drag radials and still couldn't match my 1.75 60 foot time. And I regularly torment them at Streets of Willow. They do pull hard on me on the main straight before turn 1, but I come out of the rest of the corners so hard they have to really work to catch me before then. Most of them simply can't do it, I keep a good 5-8 seconds on them on that track.

Style and appearance-wise, the e46 M3 has got it. And I haven't seen any sell for less than $35k here in San Diego, without 100k + miles on it already. Nor have I seen a brand new Evo sell for less than $35k.

Personally I'd go for a V8 S4 before I'd do an M3 of any vintage, you can find a B6 S4 for $30k these days with under 50k miles.


btw, I paid $28.5k for my R32 new in 2004, fyi. It was nice to see it actually appreciate in value for a year or so after I bought it!
