See my sig for any explination of anything that goes on in the SRT4 forums.
those morons think they can take out vipers, Z06's, and LS1's with their stock neons.

I've had the chance to have a little fun with an SRT-4 on the freeway here with no passenger that I could see. It started at 60 and I let off the throttle at 110. The new Neon is quick and I thought it had me for a bit since it took me a while to shift down to 3rd but once I hit 7000+ rpms, I started walking it slowly and pulled harder when it reached 9k going into 4th. I'm not sure but I had about 1-2 lengths on him, maybe a bit less (I can't say exactly because I was too busy being in the front.)

I have respect for the new Neon, for what it is stock for stock, the speed is there. However, I won't ever let anyone who drives a Neon call an S2000 slow for whatever reason because we can give them a run for their money (if they win, it won't be by much) and if the S2k wins, it's done in a convertible, with almost a half a liter less and no boost, all motor. (please read this SRT-4 owners, the S2k is running ALL MOTOR) An S with mild boost (5-7 psi) will slaughter an SRT-4 on the open road.

This is a sarcastic point but take away the boost on a Neon and have it run N/A, even with it's .4L of displacement advantage and it'll be in the same class as a carbureted Prelude. It takes boost in most 4 cyl cars to beat a stock S2k or at the very least, come to the same level.

I have no hatred of anybody, but don't diss on the S2000.

Didn't Wis post a detailed race session with a neon a while back? I remember you said it was close but give equal drivers, the S2000 has a slight advantage?

also from my post which you ignored...

" Looked like he had 1 as well."

so i had 2, i though he had 2 but turned out to be 3. dunno, hard to count heads threw my plastic window... if he had gotten infront of me, there might have been a better chance to count...

next time i'll loose so i can get an acurate head count for you

lets see...
3, 2, 1...

No.

What I am saying is that when comparing TWO cars, it doesn't matter if the race is uphill, on a flat or downhill. The faster car will win in all three situations.

My point is that uphill hurts both cars equally. Which one has more torque (or weight) is irrelevant.

This thread has got a lot of comedy in it. From scientific formulas to incredible racing situations face with, and all the bickering in between. Very entertaining!

i over shot on myfirst guess, ok, i edited it, let it go plz, its not the point here

point is,, it was a decent uphill run. about 45 degres, give or take.
I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

To climb up a 45 degree incline you need to generate about 0.7g of acceleration on a flat ground (sin(45) =~ 0.7). If you are wondering, 0.7g of acceleration amounts to 0-60mph in about 3.8 seconds.

So, nothing short of a Viper would be actually able to climb such a hill AT ALL, let alone accelerate up it.

The thing is, our subjective impressions on how steep a hill may be are way, WAY off. What looked to you like a 45 degree uphill was probably AT MOST a 15-20 degree uphill.
